Amazing
The food was amazing and different. The Epices Salad was amazing as well as the escargot and brik were delicious. The waiters were well informed, and were very kind. I would definitely return.

Subpar food even worse value
While the atmosphere of this restaurant is truly nice, calm and intimate, the food here is just ridiculous. None of the 3 courses we tried was good. When you get to a restaurant that cannot figure out how to get tasty olives and make a good Harisa (hot sauce) but still pretends to be Mediterranean you already know these are signs to less than average food. Combine this with the prices which are on the high side and you'll get one of the worse value for food ever. Hope it is only our exprience.

Great but needs to update menu
Lovely place-could stand a menu revamp here and there. Owner is lovely, host can be rude on an off night. He is not always gracious, even to regulars.

Delicious dinner before the opera
Dinner here was a delightful experience. The grilled octopus was perhaps the best we have ever had. The mussels were very good too. The b'stilla was delicious though not very light. The Tunisian couscous was a little disappointing. The ice cream was good as was the espresso. Service was very pleasant and prompt. With a 6 PM reservation, we made our 8 PM opera curtain in plenty of time without having to rush.

Wonderful, nice change of pace...
My wife and I live on the UWS and have tried the majority of restaurants in the area... I don't know why it took us so long to get to Epices - perhaps it's the unusual cuisine from Morocco (as opposed to the typical Italian choices). But, I am happy to report that this will now become a regular part of our rotation. The epices salad was nice and crisp, and their homemade dressing was rich and flavorful. The brik was a satisfying and beautifully presented appetizer of tuna and egg in a fried shell of filo dough. The entree's really shined even more. My wife had the Moroccan Gemelli pasta with chicken, chickpeas and cumin in a cream sauce. The flavors were simple and a very nice departure from a typical pasta dish from other UWSiders, while not being too challenging on the palate. I had the b'stilla which was a filo pie with chicken, potato, veggies and a whole assortment of spices. I hate to keep using the word 'unusual' but I mean it in the best possible way. It was a very satisfying meal, and the service was very attentive too.

reliably good food
This small unassuming restaurant consistently delivers excellent food, much better than in lots and lots of highly-rated and highly-touted restaurants. The chef simply knows what he is doing and he does it right. I do not know of a better restaurant near Lincoln Center and I have tried virtually all of them.
