Really great place!!
I never do these types of reviews, but I had to for this place. I've been here twice with friends and absolutely loved this place. The wine options are great, the food is outstanding (really superior quality food) and the service is phenomenal. I am a vegetarian and my other friends are strict meatatarians and we were all able to find several great courses to devour. The outdoor patio in the back is great. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes to get seated back there the second time we went, but not a big deal (consider reservation on a nice evening). I will be going there some time soon, again.

Superb food!
Two of us had an amazing dinner last night. We decided to go for 5 course tasting menu and each dish was very tasty. We had fresh mozzarella, calamari, the best ever prosciutto, some pasta, lamb shank and flat iron steak. Deserts are to die for, try their cheesecake and gelato. Prices are more than reasonable and staff is very friendly and polite. I love this place and will definitely go back

Good food, great prices
I was looking for a relaxed atmosphere, good food, and fair prices, and a friend recommended Barbone. This restaurant definitely lived up to all three. The inside portion (where we said) was very cozy, and the outside looked very cool as well (would probably have sat there if I went with my friends instead of my parents). Everyone was happy with their food. The mozzerella app was very fresh, mussel app was only okay, duck ravoli and parpadelle primis were both delish. For 4 people and 1 bottle of wine, the bill was very reasonable.

Quite Good
Barbone is a restaurant that is lovely in a very unassuming way. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is cozy, and the service is attentive. It's the rare kind of place that works well both for a romantic evening and dinner with the family, although it can be difficult to get a table on weekends. Not the place to go if you want a scene, but definitely the place to go to enjoy wonderfully-uted Italian in a charming dining room.

Family event
Went with my dad to celebrate family reunion in New York. We were looking for outdoor eating. It was great, and he loved it. But he later told that they ripped him off with the wine. They brought him a bottle of wine that he didn't order and when they brought the wine he ordered they left the higher charge in the bill for the first bottle. Bait and switch? Are they that desperate?

Good
The garden seating is the true plus. The owner was great and let us sit down inside but moved us outside when a table opened up. On the minus, they brought our check before they asked us if we needed anything else and THEN someone came over to see if we wanted dessert. The food was good, nothing memorable, but fine for the price to sit outside on a lovely night

Needless disappontment
I too was mortified at being hustled out after our tasting meal we stayed exactly as long as the time it took for us to be served. The warmth the owner extends to obviously regular patrons makes it particularly disappointing that those newer to this potentually exciting restaurant should leave feeling unwelcomed
