I researched several sources for an Italian restaurant before making our reservation for dinner. Ennio & Michael restaurant was highly recommended by your site and by two other credible sites. I feel as if my family and I went to the wrong restaurant. The food was fair but not great as the reviews indicated. We had a switch in waiters, and our waiters didn’t check to see how we were doing nor did they come to check if we may have wanted more wine or soda. Also my brother-in-law was told by our first waiter that the choice of vegetables would be green beans or spinach. When the second waiter came with a side order of spinach, my brother-in-law nicely told him that he ordered the green beans. The waiter, rather than being apologetic, seemed annoyed and indicated that the only vegetable of the day was spinach. My brother-in-law did not pursue it further and just accepted the spinach. My family loves desserts. We ordered two desserts to share among the five of us, and both desserts were very bland. I hope this was merely an anomaly and others will fare better than we did.

Our favorite for many, many years. E&M is a gracious, old fashioned restaurant, which means they actually care about service and atmosphere. Charming white tablecloth Italian place, with great food. We've stayed with them since the 80s, as we became vegetarians then vegans. Always feel welcome. Their salads, veggies and pastas (try their amazing version of Puttanesca - with or without the anchovies) never disappoint. Have brought many foodie, meat eating friends & family over the years and despite E&M's "uncool" atmosphere, they've always left happy.

We were a group of 8 on a Friday night and had a great, relaxing meal. It was three hours after we arrived that we realized how much fun we'd been having. The staff was helpful, attentive and seemed to love what they were doing. The food was very good, and the pre-fixe menu was a great deal. They never tried to rush us out the door, and we left very happy.

My boyfriend has been here a few times with his family and has always talked about taking me here. We finally got around to going this past weekend and it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in NYC. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the cost was very reasonable. I would highly suggest ordering the Rigatoni alla Ennio - AMAZING!

I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant one night and now go there often. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. The service is some of the best I have had, before I could finish the water in my glass they were right there refilling it. Overall one of my favorite places in the city, definitely worthwhile.

On a recent visit to see our Grandson at NYU my cousin recommended Ennio & Michael. They have a reasonably priced Lunch menu with a nice variety of selections. We shared three appetizers which were excellent. Of our party of six five ordered pasta dishes two of us extremely pleased with my pasta and calamari dish. My wife had the eggplant parmengan her favorite and she loved it. Two of my Grandson’s had they baked rigatoni which they were pleased with and my Daughter had a pasta with vegetable dish which she enjoyed. We shared four desserts that were excellent. Our waiters were prompt and attentive. With a nice touch added by the friendly owner Michael who took the time to visit our table and ensure that our expectations were met. Next time you are in lower Manhattan venture over to Ennio’ & Michael you will not be disappointed. I know I will be going back.
