    Craving the handmade tofu!

The experience at EN was great, not exceptional, but great! we really enjoyed our dinner there! i am craving the handmade tofu...we'll definitely go back for more of that! the sushi was a bit overpriced the service was good. everything seemed really fresh! + very tasty!

    Disappointing

I have never enjoyed having sushi chefs scream upon my arrival and departure. There were a few good things on the menu, but I was disappointed there wasn't more to choose from. Not going back.

Great food but so so interior

Try the "signature" menu. It's $100 for both which I think fairly good price with really nice small dish selections. I definitely recommend other food there too. But don't like the interior. Just high ceiling... I don't see the concept of interior there, just not right. But again, I love the food there.

A bit too salty for our taste

We had dinner at EN for the first time last night. The space is really cool, and we were seated quickly without a reservation. Had a nice drink, good, small appetizers and good sashimi. I ordered the seasonal steak special for dinner, and could barely eat it because it was so salty!! The portions are quite small, and after a $180 bill (including drinks) we left hungry and parched!

Creative and excellent Japanese food at

We live not too far away so have eaten here something like 8-10 times, from right after they opened to yesterday. Every single time the service has been remarkable and the food has been excellent. As others have said, it is much more than sushi, and I cannot speak to the quality of the sushi and sashimi, as we have never tried them. The other food is so much more interesting and varied in taste, as well as coming in individually styled pottery dishes. They make their own fresh tofu, which is wonderful, even in its plainest incarnation. The house salad is great, with a thin sheet of tofu on top. Food is offered in small plates and large plates; we usual go for more of the small plates, just to get a larger variety. Pretty much everything we have tried has been excellent (and the service has always been friendly and efficient). Things like braised daikon radish with a minced chicken sauce, grilled sliced pork cutlet with hot mustard, burdock root salad, grilled eggplant and uni with mustard, and stone-grilled organic chicken. The rice pot for 2-4 with salmon and salmon roe is excellent. Also the grilled onigiri rice balls. Desserts here are fantastic, too, including Japanese ice creams and puddings. The food comes out quite fast, which may be a problem for some, but has not been for us. The decor is comfortable and stylish. The price/value relationship for us is just great. It may be a little off the beaten path, but it is well worth it. We love it and highly recommend it.

    Really Good!

Have read a few reviews and being adventurous thought I'd try it. If you're looking for your typical sushi place, it's not for you. They have a huge menu with all kinds of interesting dishes. Our waiter was very helpful and suggested their "signature" menu. It was an awesome spread for two people that blew us away. He also told us to get the fried chicken which was awesome. Who knew Japanese could make fried chicken? Anyway, we love this place and are going back.

    Bad Service, Bad Food

My husband and I went yesterday for a dinner. After reading reviews, we were very dissapointed not only on a very bad and sloppy service, but we could not believe how dissatisfying the food was. The size of the portions was miniscule and food was bland. Overall, we did not enjoy at all the place - for the prices they are charging, one can find a much better and pleasant place in NYC.
