My boyfriend, who is well known in the restaurant industry and I have been going to EO since the day it opened. I had not been for a few months - how disappointed was I to find that the door had a velvet rope, and that inside the bar, what was once filled with interesting crowd was full of bankers and suits from the UES and UWS. The food is still good, but the service was spotty and the crowd too. If I wanted to be in a room of investment bankers and their vacuous girlfriends, i would have just as well gone elsewhere.

The food was wonderful, we had steak and oysters -- delicious. But the unprofessional service wrecked our night at the end.

So was it just me or were the waiters all dressed in strange outfits as if it was halloween all year? Odd. I thought the food was great. the cheese plate delicious. The steak tartar great and the braised veal was tasty but too HEAVY. the service was odd. Not bad just odd and was not thrilled with the ambience. What thrilled me most was the price, I was pleasantly surprised that a place this trendy did not have such a hefty price tag. If you live nearby worth checking out, if not no need to rush.

Arrived at 9:30pm for a 9:30pm reservation on a Friday ... and weren't seated until 10:15pm. Perhaps typical for a Friday, but we feared that it would be reflective of the remainder of the night. IT WASN'T! Service was great -- incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Oysters to start were unique -- and delish -- and the halibut was an explosion of flavor. Friends loved the veal (though a small portion) and definitely loved the fun cocktails and interesting wines by the glass. A little loud, but it's to be expected.

The drinks are spectacular and the food is great! The entire staff was kind and accomodating from the girl who took our reservation to the guys who cleared our plates. The only way you'd get treated like a jerk in this place is if you were behaving like one! The 1 bathroom is frustrating but knowing that a delicious cocktail will be waiting for you when you get out makes it worth while! Oh and definItely worth it to stop by the psychic on your way out.

Went last night with some friends of mine from London - the drinks were spectacular, the food was very good, but our experience was more or less ruined by the terrible service. The waitress we had was outright rude - and looked annoyed the entire time. At one point, she was carrying drinks and was directly behind a friend of mine - instead of saying 'excuse me' or 'right behind you, watch your back', she screamed in his ear as he was standing up (and clearly didnt know she was there) 'what are you doing? Don't get up! What do you think you are doing?' When I was younger I worked as a cocktail waitress and had to deal with annoying drunken people, but we were neither drunk (she was carrying our 1st drinks), nor annoying, and if we were, it did not warrant her rude demeanor. After not finding any other reason for it, we determined that we too would be in a foul mood if we had to wear the outfits they put their waitstaff in - horrible denim jumpers with holes cut out in the back that show the their bras - they look awful! After we moved from the dining area to the bar, our experience was much improved. I would go back.

Beautiful bar, great vibe, lighting and service. They take pride in their complex cocktails which were amazing. The bartender/owner was generous in offering a sample of a plum like Calvados I inquired about behind the bar. (he place was packed and he took the time to do this) We figured the food would be ok since the emphasis seems to be on the liquids. We were wrong. The same attn to the booze is given to the food. The cold and meat sampler apps where refined and full of choices. The Chicken Liver mousse is one of the best in the city. My Salted Bronzini was perfect. (Nice touch to present the fish to the table before filleting it). Another nice touch was the floor mgr/owner preparing the steak tar-tar table side. A bit salty for me but very good and woth the visual. The scallops were fantastic as well the Monkfish. I have to say, coming from a restaurant bkgrd I was truly impressed by the amt of hands on attn the owners displayed. Our waitress was also super cool and right there whenever we needed her. Nice going guys!
