very pleased overall
Be forewarned that the service here is not typical of an Upper East Side Chinese food establishment. For one thing, the food will not arrive in your hands in two minutes, though to me that's a plus- It makes me think that it could have possibly taken time to be prepared, and it shows that the place is not in a rush to serve you. A second point about the service is, as another reviewer put it, the staff is very friendly and will happily meet your food specifications. The decor is above par for a Chinese restaurant. As for the food, well yeah I guess that's important too. I have been pleased with every order except for the Chicken in Three Styles. I would stick to the standard menu, as opposed to the specials. The food is a little bit on the high side, but it's definitely worth it.

An UES Best Bet
I've been living in the neighborhood for about 10 years. I used to eat here and do take out at least twice a week. For the last year or so, I've been trying out a few other places, none of which are as good as Empire Wok. The staff is so nice, food is always delcious, fast delivery, and the restaurant is super clean. Something I also appreciate is when you ask them to make a few tweaks (less or more spicy, saucey, etc) they always listen and do exactly what you ask for. DEFINITELY one of the best bests n the neighborhood!!

great chicken w/ broccoli
Just got back from getting my take out order at Empire Wok. My chicken with broccoli didn't take more than five minutes to come out, and the quality was perfectly good for cheap chinese food on the UES (tender chicken, crisp broccoli, well-balanced brown sauce that wasn't too oily). The only thing that didn't make the service a 5 was the woman up front, who seemed less than enthusiastic to serve me/borderline rude. All in all, however, I would definitely go here again. Speedy, decent food.

Solid Chinese
Very nice staff, quick service, quality food at good prices. Atmosphere is O.k., table clothes and clean.

most bland chinese food ive ever had
I just tried their general tsos chicken. It looks good, smells good but I can't even taste the chicken. Try something else if you can! Otherwise, the service is great and its not expensive, but where is the flavor?

You're never disappointed
We keep on coming back to this restaurant for home delivery. The food is the best and we love the free dish after spending $15.00 for takeout. The soups are wonderful and the noodle dishes are even better...You can't go wrong here...

Best UES Chinese
The only thing that isn't good here is the sesame noodles, but all the other dishes are better here than anywhere in the neighborhood.
