Poor Asian experience in the city
Don't know why this place stays open. The food was subpar. The service was too. Staff was unhappy and rude. Don't waste your time here!

don't bother with the takeout
over the years empire was a place you could order out cheap chinese. never was it good, but the kids didn't know the difference and thought it was different. unfortunately these jokers now raise their prices (up 40-60%) and lower their quality -- significantly, and finally to a point so unacceptably subpar that i thought that anyone thinking of eating at this joint should know.

my favorite friday night adventure
I order from here almost every Friday night and with out fail the food is always wonderful. The sushi is FRESH and the chinese food is always very flavorful and tasty. It is not only the quality that counts but also the quantity and there is always leftovers for me. The staff is friendly and always have a big HELLO when i walk in. They also know all of the extras that i like when i get take out and never is anyone of them extra's forgotten when i get home... thanks...and keep up the delicious work..

Read This Before You Order...
Ok, someone needs to equalize the ratings on here, because something is most definitely wrong. I am by no means a food snob, nor do I expect every restaurant I order from to absolutely blow me away. I am also Chinese and live and breathe for good Chinese food, particularly Szechuan food. I don't need it to be authentic tasting (although preferable of course) to call it good. It has to taste good, whatever cuisine you call it. That being said, I will say hands down that this was the absolute WORST szechuan food I've ever tasted in my life. The quality and sophistication of the meat, ingredients, vegetables, and condiments were completely low quality and sub-par. It looked and tasted like a random white person cooked this in their kitchen. I ordered the Beef with dried hot peppers (hot & spicy) and wontons in spicy sesame oil. Absolutely disgusting. The thin strips of beef was completely flavorless and overcooked. It tasted like I was chewing paper. On top of that, it came with slices of celery and a pile of uncooked peanuts strewn throughout the entire dish. There were 3 pieces of "dried hot peppers". Anyone that knows anything about this dish knows that you do not cook it with celery, which is a vegetable almost unused in Chinese dishes. It simply does not go flavor-wise. The peanuts are supposed to be cooked INTO the dish to compliment the flavor, not thrown on top afterwards. Not only was this dish not in the least bit spicy, but it utterly lacked flavor. The "wontons in spicy sesame sauce" was equally bad. The sauce consisted of thick peanut sauce and oil. It really seems like the chefs here do not give any consideration to how the ingredients they mix will taste together. I am not one to throw away food without at least eating a substantial portion first. This was an exception. I had a few pieces of beef and one wonton and could not stomach anymore. I am appalled this restaurant claims it serves Chinese food, and especially Szechuan food. There are simply too many restaurants in NYC (even outside of Queens) that serve good Chinese food to give this one business.

What happened?!
Used to love this particular Empire. Ordered food for 4 today. Everything ranged from sub-mediocre to downright disappointing. All 4 of us were displeased. Food was dry, overcooked, overly-sweet and comprised of the cheapest, lowest quality ingredients. Never again.

Hit or Miss
This place is either totally on or totally off. Sometimes they pay attention to instructions like "no peas" or "extra crispy" "or extra soy sauce packets" (they usually only give you 1) and sometimes they completely disregard them. When they get your order right, it's some of the best Chinese food around, but when they don't it's just ok. It's just frustrating when you order and don't know which version you're going to get.
