Great for any occasion!
I had dinner here with 7 people. They were extremely accommodating for my larger party. Prices are on the moderate-higher side for Mexican, but you are getting consistent quality of service and food. Servers are very knowledgeable, attentive and personable. Everything is delicious here. We started out with the guac and their assortment of salsas (some with interesting concoctions), then we ordered different tacos to try. They were all flavorful, but my favorites are the lobster tacos and mushroom tacos (and I'm not vegetarian). The portions are just enough where you don't feel like you're going into a food coma afterwards. We washed these down with their awesome margaritas (light and not too sweet) They play great, upbeat music here. I'd recommend making a reservation here as it can get really crowded. All in all, this restaurant is perfect for any occasion - date night, girls/guys dinner, birthday, celebration, or to just check out. Looking forward to checking out their brunch on the weekends!

Great brunch spot
Had brunch here and was more than pleased. The service was fantastic, food came out hot and delicious (I recommend the chilaquiles), and the vibe is perfect for a late weekend brunch. Definitely a spot worth checking out - I will be headed back there very soon.

So overrated
I'm not looking a "value meal" by any means but the portions were minuscule. Be prepared to order several times or leave hungry..everything was appetizer sized at an entree price. I'm not sure what scene these other reviewers have witnessed before but this is in the heart of tourist central right off 7th avenue...you can do better at this price point

Amazing!
I had dinner with my husband and another couple and everything could not have been more perfect. Initially I was concerned because I am a vegetarian, but the staff and chef were incredibly knowledgeable and help accommodate my requests. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning soon.

Classy and friendly
Had dinner here in May and the wait staff was very accomodating in getting us seated and helpful in making useful menu suggestions. The food was excellent as was the service. Our waitress was particularly charming and welcoming.

Yum-my!
Love this little gem of a restaurant- has such a homey and fun vibe. My husband and I ordered way too much food because we wanted to try everything from this simple but delicous menu. I recommend ordering a bunch of the taco's to split- the fish and steak one's were amazing but so were the chicken and pork- we ordered half orders with some sides and we were beyond full but happy. Oh, and the octopus appetizer was ridiculously good as well. Tastes were so lively and delicous and original- we will be back!

best spot in nyc
I love everything about Empellon. Their food is delicious and they push the boundaries of Mexican food in the most interesting and rewarding ways. Every experience I've had has been perfect from the service to the drinks and the food. Alex Stupak and his crew are making the most exciting food right now in New York City, get there before you can't get through the door here anymore!
