great food-very slow delivery

We ordered about $35 worth of food and waited so long - at least an hour - and the service was so poor - it didn't matter if the food was good or if it was a good value. We left hungry and won't be back there again. I work hard for my money and they should too!

I love this latin american style empanadas... they do not taste like the traditional kind you will find in Argentina but they are worth the visit again and again and again.... The service feel Latin American too... not the best thing considering that you might have to wait until they dare to acknowledge you've been waiting for 30 minutes for someone to ask you if you want a table .... But all suffering is worth it when you see the fantastically diverse menu... empanadas outside the box. Go for it.... and don't forget to start with the guacamole... it comes with banana chips.

I love the food and have been multiple times, great value (empanadas are only 2.50) however the service is lacking.. the people are friendly but rarely get around to all the tables regularly, it takes a long time to get the check or more water etc. Once you're seated the atmosphere is great but the place is very small and often seems cramped so it can be a while if there aren't tables available. Overall however, the excellent food outweighs the mediocre service/atmosphere, I highly recommend it (but try to go at an odd time when it won't be so crowded).

Ok so I like their food but had two big let downs already. I went to the store and ordered one of their meals with a side order of plantains. When I inquired why my order was taking so long, the lady said that the plantain was a special order and therefore the delay. Plantains at a latin restaurant a "special order"????? Then I called in for a delivery and wanted to pay with my credit card. My order came to 14.50. So the man said that I had to order something else because the minimum on credit cards was $15. "So for 50 cents you're going to make me order somethig else?" I replied. I found it outrageous when I had been ordering from them quite frequently.

We're not empanada connoiseurs, so these tasted good but if not truly authentic, we wouldn't know. Yes, we've had some in Hackensack NJ which were larger, cheaper and more deeply fried...but this is Manhattan. $2.50 sometimes only buys you a Coke, so getting an empanada isn't so bad. We had pernil, pretty aromatic. Chicken and beef were ground, not shredded as others noted. Rice and beans OK, Chorizo was not spicy so we couldn't tell beef from chrorizo if not for the bag. Side order of black beans was skimpy but garlicky good. Service as others noted was notoriously slow. We (3) went to the register to place our order and went back there to get our check, even tho we were seated at a tablethe first and only customers for lunch while we were there. Never go there if you're in a hurry, like at lunchtime. Otherwise, this place is OK.

I've loved this place since it opened. Its one of my regular delivery and/or sit down places. Guac and chips are excellent. The empanandas are pretty amazing. My favorites are the Hawaiian, cheese steak, chicken (with the spicy green sauce) and you can't go wrong with the desert empanadas. This place is a must try for Hell's Kitchen.
