We only go to Empanada Mama for the food, but the service is poor. They are testy and impatient. I understand their restaurant is busy, but if they are in food service, and expect good compensation, they should shape up. This is ridiculous.

20 MINUTES FOR 3 EMPANADAS. There is only so much tolerance people can have for poor service. I waited 20 minutes in the restaurant after I called in a pick up order. They weren't even that busy. I get that their food is really good (it's delicious), but I question if it's worth the frustration.

food is still decent, but by gosh - the staff are actually nasty - not just rude, but actually nasty! Maybe they're going for that on purpose like one of those Chicago joints, but I'm no sure it works in hell's kitchen.

Like the other reviews, I agree that the food is amazing and that everything on the menu that I've yet to taste has been delicious. The service is spotty, but it's never ruined my food experience. Usually the waiters are pretty nice, given how crowded the place/ petty the other customers can be... And you can't beat the price. Until the food stops coming, I will be frequenting mama's quite happily.

Excellent empanadas, some of the best I have had for sure. Also, the tostones and yucca frita is very delicious and the serving size is very gracious. The worst part of the place is the service, servers are usually hanging out listening to music and chit-chatting together. Best time to go is very early and beat the crowd. Also, if you plan on ordering order early because the later it gets, the longer you will have to wait and it can sometimes be hard to here them due to the loud music in the background from the stereo behind the register.

I have been eating at this particular Empanada Mama for almost 2 years. I ordered take out last week and asked for a beer for my husband and I while we waited. The waiter had the nerve to come over to us and complain that we were having a beer while waiting for our food and said we should have sat down and asked for the food to go. I told him that I had tipped the cashier and asked if they shared tips. He said no. I can't believe he actually had the audacity to come over to us. The customer service has deteriorated to a level that is unimaginable over the last year. I am so disappointed in their customer service and hope whoever manages the place takes note of what is going on. It would be such a shame for the place to go down the drain because of the poor customer service.

LOVE the food. The waitstaff is another story. Everything on the menu is delicious - not just the empanadas - the skirt steak is the BEST! It's a shame the service isn't better. The servers are slow, don't care if your order is wrong....and last time we were there, the guy busing the table next to us knocked a candle on the floor splashing hot wax all over the 4 of us, ruining our clothes and shoes. When we mentioned this, the bus guy just shrugged and laughed, then we told the waiter, who claimed we all came in like that. Uh.... So get your food to go. And check the order before you leave. They have a PRIME location, GREAT food, and they're blowing it with poor service. Sad.
