I have been going to this joint since they opened! I will never stop coming here! There is no place like it in the city. And if you love their empanadas, theres a cool bar on 10th avenue between 48th and 49th streets called Perdition that sells their empanadas as bar food!

Very cute little place and the food is fabulous! It does take a little while to get your food and get attended to, but it is definately worth the wait. You will be more than satisfied.

I loved the casual atmosphere of the tiny empanada shop and the amazing selection of emanadas - both the sweet and savory. My only problem was that when I wandered in at 7pm that night they had already run out of most of the selections and I had to wait 25 minutes for my order. I based my choices on what the cashier suggested and was pleased - both the chicken and the beef empanadas were delicious. I can only imagine that they were having an off day and will happily go back for another meal.

Delicious and cheap, but not necessarily fast. Friendly staff but sometimes feels "understaffed" due to the small size. Someimtes empanadas take 15 minutes so best to call in your order and pick up. Topless service would make the wait worthwhile.$15 credit card minimum = annoying, but understandable for $2 food. Fun interior, kind of small.

This was my first visit to Empanada Mama, having just returned from an extensive trip to Argentina and Chile, and craving for a good place to repeat the great experiences down there. After reading the reviews in this section, I went with mixed feelings, and was very pleasantly surprised! I took a crossword puzzle along to while away the time it was supposed to take to be served - well, I got my beer after 3 minutes and my 4 empanadas 3 minutes later! And the food was very delicious, the pollo not dry at all, the beef definitely shredded and the viagra (seafood) - well, I don't know about its potency, but it was definitely also top rate. I ended up ordering one more pollo empanada, not because I was hungre but because it was so tasty. The service was also very friendly and quick, the place though is very small and very basic, but this did not abate my enjoyment. I will certainly be back!

This is such a quaint place! I am a huge fan of arepas, and the one I had w/ cheese was great. Also, the dessert empanada w/ fig, caramel, and cheese was terrific. The wait was a bit longer than I expected, so I can see why some would be bothered in a lunch rush. Other than that, no complaints from me:) I wish they had a store near my apt. in Brooklyn!
