    Cute and cheap

Just got back from Empanada Mama, and I was very pleased overall. I think it would be a cute spot for a casual date - but it's pretty tiny. The empanadas are not very expensive and were really good. Of course the fried ones tasted better than the oven baked one. We split the spicy chicken, oven baked beef, the tuna jalapeno and the spinach and cheese. The spinach and chicken were the best of the bunch but all were good. We also had a good item off the tapas menu - a baguette spread with mushrooms and onions and topped with brie. It was all just delicious comfort food. The fig, caramel, and cheese dessert was great as was the chocolate and banana empanada - which was surprisingly not overly sweet. I will say that the service was definitely slow, and I felt a little rushed towards the end of the night - but I think they are just understaffed.

    Loco Waitress

Ive been going here since they first opened. The food is WONDERFUL. The staff is not the same since then and they are very unorganized. I had one waitress charge my credit card 3 times! And when I spoke to her nicely she accused me of calling her stupid. I think shes crazy! So to sum it up, order take out

    The Nectar of the God's

Where do I start. The food here is great, my friends & I work about 10 city blocks away and we still troop it at least once a week. The empanadas are great, I love the fact that they have Wheat & Corn. Being Colombian I can appreciate them having Corn "masa" empanadas . Their daily specials are great as well especially Thursdays , Oxtail Soup "Sancocho de Cola" just like mom use to make guys and they serve it with white rice. Hmmm. The Colombian Sausage with griddle cake "chorizo colombiano con arepa" is made to perfection every single time. Always cooked correctly and always the same quality. I know you Latinos out there know what I'm talking about when I say this. The White Corn Pattie stuffed with beef "arepa rellena de carne" is amazing. Everything I have tasted on the menu has always been 100% to my satisfaction. Great place to go with your friends, the service is a little slow & the music is not great but the food more than makes up for it. If your ever in the area of Hell's Kitchen definitely stop by you will not regret it.

    Bright Lights, Hot Empanadas

Went in around 8pm on a Saturday with 3 friends, Sat right down and was handed a menu. Place is bright with lights as well as colors which is totally typical in South America. My friends and I picked which tasty treats we wanted and waited about 15 minutes for our food. The shakes/smoothies were good as were the empanadas. Most of then are fried except for a hand full of oven baked ones. When your order comes, every empanada is labeled in it's own baggy which I found helpful since we ordered about 20 of them. This place is fun and reminds me of my travels in Argentina and Chile. I only wish they had a bigger selection of the oven baked variety, even so, I will go back.

Nice place to hang out and grab a bite

I think this place is amazing, considering that the food is very inexpensive. Im not sure what the reviewer before me was expecting...Five Star Service? If you are then you should stop being so cheap and go to an expensive fine dining place like Daniel...Very satisfied with the food...{-:

    Slooooow service, Ok food

The service is extremely slow. The prices are more or less on par with surrounding lunch places serving cheap Mexican food. There is NO atmosphere, so it's not cozy at all.
