Trendy but Friendly
I thought elmo would be like many other stuffy chelsea restaurants as i was first drawn in by the cool looking atmosphere, but to my surprise, i was wrong. I had a cute waiter with great personality. I had the mussels, which were great and my date and i shared a few of the drinks from the drink list, which were all heavenly. The music was playin (i actually think there was a live dj) and no snooty attitude. this was 2 wks ago and since then ive taken a client there for lunch, and had a "to go" order, all were up to par with my first experience. i highly recommend Elmo.

Always a Sure Bet.
I couldn't help but laugh at some of the negative reviews... left by some impossible-to-please people, no doubt. Elmo is packed because it has consistently great food at reasonable prices. Best eggs benedict ANYWHERE ( weekends ), and if you're a size queen, the burgers are very well hung and juicy. The atmosphere is quintessential New York, chic, fast-paced. The service has always been friendly- if you want to be served attitude and home fries that are hard as rocks, head down the block to Cafeteria ... the macaroni and cheese at Elmo is just as fantastic. I wish there were more consistently excellent restaurants here in Chelsea. Whether you are stopping for your "pre-disco" dinner with friends or dragging yourself out of bed and back to reality the next morning over a latte and eggs, Elmo is the best bang for your buck.

Good Consistent Place
I'm rarely disappointed with Elmo. Good food, good service, nice chic casual atmosphere. Great bar good for after work drinks. Waiters very attentive.

Half measures
Incredible burger. Poor excuse for a bun. Great decor. Music way too loud. Pleasant waitress. Not so nice host. Delicious martini. Although some of it was spilled on me. Would we come back? maybe, maybe not. Half measures for this place. Just cannot get over what a poor excuse for a hamburger bun they serve, it's the kind of bun that has been sitting in the back of your freezer, that never defrosts properly.

Fabulous
The food, atmosphere, and staff are awesome. My husband and I come to the city frequently, and typically eat at Elmo once. Great value and food! Highly recommended.

Feels like home
Love this restaurant-the waitstaff is gorgeous, service is fanatstic and the burgers, meatloaf and brunch are to die for! For drinks I recommend the blood orange martini-a couple of those and i'm ready to get the party started!

Good food, so so service
Very good on the basics like burgers, fries, fried chicken.... For the most part, the waitstaff is very nice but the service is spotty and brings down the overall enjoyment of the meal. Regardless, I will go back as it is a good value for a neighborhood place.
