    Weirdest Experience Ever

So a friend and I went to Ellis for brunch. I lived in the neighborhood and had always walked by and it was usually empty but it seemed nice inside and their menu was interesting so we decided to give it a try. The bartender wasn't overly friendly, which I thought was weird because we were the only people there, but we didn't really care. We each ordered the fry bread, which was delicious in a sinful heart-attack inducing sort of way. Ellis is a clean, nice, bar with lots of drafts and decent fry bread...but if you order food, it's going to come with a side of ego.

    not a good bar

The place is so ugly, and the bartenders are lame. Some drunk guy came up to me at around 4pm, and was hitting on me while my boyfriend went and got me a drink. Old regulars spill their beers on the way to the back patio thingy. The cosmos are no good and the people in the bar aren't that nice. Would never go back, even though their prices are good.

    Such great atmosphere!

This seriously has everything I could ask for in a bar! I love trivia and friendly, cozy atmosphere. This place is amazing and the food tastes as great as it sounds!

    Delicious food, great beer selection

I was really impressed by the overall quality of Ellis bar. Loved the extensive tap selection, the fry bread was delicious as was the red pepper jelly. Spoke to the owner, who said she thought my outfit was adorable (so nice!) and loved the family friendly changing table! Highly recommend them for sunday brunch!

    I love this place

Great place for any meal. I've had their brunch (yummy hash browns), lunch (tasty navajo fry bread taco), and dinner (enchiladas)...seriously, i could eat every meal there. They also have great salads. I like how the dishes are unique, yet reasonably priced. The service is amazing they are always very accommodating.

    Surprised it wasn't busier

My girlfriend and I had dinner here last Friday, and the food was SO good. The frybread is definitely one of the so-wrong-it's-right kinda dishes, even just plain. The vegetable enchiladas, ribs were great, and all the sides we had (including spinach, mashed potatoes, frybread and asparagus) really stood up. We were amazed we were the only ones eating--I'd like to think of it as a "hidden gem" if the South Slope restaurant scene wasn't so cutthroat right now. We ended up sticking around for about four hours at the bar after dinner and had a great time. I'd highly recommend giving it a shot--hopefully enough people discover its awesomeness before it goes the way of the wine bar next door...
