    Poor service

My husband and I are in our early thirties and we were clearly the youngest in the restaurant, that typically doesn't bother us. However, our waiter was reading the endless list of specials to every table around us but for us he simply threw menus down and walked away. He never came back to check on us as he did with other tables and we waited forever for the check and to receive my card back. He put his own tip on the check as well. Our meals were good and we saw a few famous faces, however when I go out to dinner as a paying customer, I would like to be treated as such, no matter of my age etc...too many amazing restaurants in the city to waste my time at Elio's again.

    An excellent overall experience!

The food at Elio's was phenomenal. From the appetizers to the dessert--everything was fresh and delicious. The service was also great, for our waiter went out of his way to help us with several needs. Also, you get deals for your money--is definitely not overpriced. I definitely recommend Elio's.

    Loved it!

The food was wonderful! The chef took extra time to specialize a meal for my husband. The portions were generous, but not overwhelming. The breads and salads were fresh. The entrees were wonderful. The dessert was out of this world. The service was great. I loved the atmosphere-- it reminded me of the restaurants I went to when I was younger. It didn't have the "chain restaurant' feel. I would highly recommend it.

    Gastronomic disappointment

overrated! mediocre food, slow service, tight seating and tired. We have been living on the upper east side for 3 years, and had often heard of Elio's. It was a great disappointment. The food was plain, tasteless and boring. We were expecting a classy italian fare. We were very wrong. Our servers were rude. They tried to force us up from our table multiple times. We weren't even given dessert menus in an attempt to get us up from the table. They tried to take my wife's coffee 2x, both of which we told them she was not finished. The restaurant manager finally came over and asked up to get up and hang out at the bar as they needed the table. That is not acceptible. It wasn't as if we took an unreasonable about of time at the table. We brought another couple with us, and we were severely embarassed. We will never return to Elio's. I suggest you spend your money elsewhere....

    I'm still hungry

They just DO NOT serve enough food at this place. I left hungry and angry. Go somewhere else!

    Torturous experience

The food is overrated. Nothing special, and very overpriced. They serve fish&chips, call it something fancy and charge $17 for this greasy appetizer! The service is agonizingly slow (I was pregnant when I went there, and waited a good 10 minutes before the waiter or bus boy even showed up). It's a very cramped up atmosphere - the tables are so close together, you can't have a normal conversation and you really feel like a sardine). I would never go back.
