    Needs revamping

This restaurant with the amount of people that go there, with the amount of space they have and great location, you would think they would have better service, better coordination, better table overall set-up and just better attention to customers. I can tell you the two times I have gone there the service was lacking tremendously. I asked for water and lemon, never got the lemon. Another time, we had a small table and the waitress was attempting to place three huge plates on this small table instead of just saying; maybe I should move you to a larger table. Other time, the waitress brought the order of food and then we did not see her again till we were looking to pay the check. Additionally, usually you get bread/butter at the table when you sit down and are waiting for your order. Not here, I had to ask for it. This restaurant has such great potential just by the size of the location. But by having such poor service, I will definitely think twice before ever going back. I think any restaurant to keep its patrons needs to have good service along with good food. If they need lessons on what service looks like they should try visiting the many restaurants that are located in the city (Downtown/Midtown/Uptown) - I can give them at least 20 restaurants within a 2 block radius that can teach them how it's done. The only way a company or restaurant makes a mark is by their customer service.

What resturant doesn't have salad dressing?

Not enough lighting. Can't read the menu bcuz the words are small. The chicken I ordered was dry. It's not all that... My first & last time

    Not worth the money

El Viejo Yayo is a mediocre and VERY pricey Latin restaurant. For the price you pay here you should take a cab and go to a hole in the wall Latin restaurant in Sunset Park and pay 1/4 of the price. The beans were overly condimented and everything wasn't great. Way too pricey for the quality of food. Do yourself a favor and go else where.

    Fixing "Mistake"

Food is so delicious. Could use a little more lighting so you can read the menu. Staff is very friendly weather you speak Spanish or not.

    great neighborhood spot

I have been several times in the past couple months and all were great. The value is excellent, food great, service friendly and space charming. While the wine list is small, it is well selected and tasty. This is my new go to with friends and also a great place to stop by on my own too.

    mistake

I went to this place with my girlfriend, figured we'd try something new. It sucked, the food was passable at best, the service atrocious and the atmosphere, was non-existent. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

    Family Environment

This restaurant is extremely family enviroment. The food es delicious and the staff are very pleasants. If you want to have an evening of relaxation, just come to El Viejo Yayo, and you'll have a taste of the caribbean.
