mistake
I went to this place with my girlfriend, figured we'd try something new. It sucked, the food was passable at best, the service atrocious and the atmosphere, was non-existent. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Family Environment
This restaurant is extremely family enviroment. The food es delicious and the staff are very pleasants. If you want to have an evening of relaxation, just come to El Viejo Yayo, and you'll have a taste of the caribbean.

Great place!!
I visited El Viejo Yayo with someone recently, and we both fell in love with the place. The waitstaff was both friendly and helpful. We started off by snacking on tostones and maduros. Then we both ordered Yayo steaks (mine was the Cubano). The steaks came with rice and beans, salad, and chopped onions and green peppers. My guests steak had carmelized onions on top. They were Latin American style, so they were extremely thin and incredibly flavorful. The restaurant is incredibly comfortable, and filled with Spanish music. We both highly suggest it. Oh, the prices are great as well!

So So Good!
Great great food! Yayo steak is so thin and good, and such good chicharone de pollo! But the BEST is the Yucca and mojito sauce! (Garlic Sauce). So yum! The service is friendly and quick and they always get your order right and cook everything to your specifications. Delivery never takes longer then 30min, usually 20, and when you eat in the restaurant the food is even better! All around great spanish food (and this coming from someone spanish!)

The best Dominican/Latin American food!
I am a consistent and frequent visitor of the restaurant, in both delivery services as well as eating in. The food is amazing! (if you like Spanish food). Fresh meat, chicken etc. Some of the best Spanish food I've had in NY. The portions are generous, they cook everything down to your minute specifications. Great meat, great selection of beans, and sides. I highly recomend the fried yuca (yuca frita) well done w/the garlic "mohito" sauce. They also have great tostones, plaintains, etc. and the service is EXCELLENT. Super friendly, warm and on top of your order and your table w/out being over bearing. Friendly servers too. Defintely recomended and one of my favorites in the slope.
