I agree with the last reviewer... the appetizers are very good here; particularly the "sweetbreads", and the "grilled calamari"... both were delicious. But they tend to over-cook the main courses; and their "white asparagus" appetizer is right out of a jar (honestly).

We just had dinner there, party of five. The tapas were great, but the Paella a la Valenciana was very dry, the meats and fish were rubbery and completely overcooked! Very disappointed, after reading the reviews about El Porron. Would not go back.

Second time, LOVE the food and we are Hispanic and travel to Spain every year. The tapas are excellent, the scallop entree perfect. But it's always very noisy or we happen to go when there is a loud table. Will choose an earlier time slot next time.

We stopped in for lunch. The tapas dishes were great! Service was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the lunch menu and looking forward to my next visit.

The restaurant itself has a very charming atmosphere. The service is attentive and very friendly. The owner even gave us some sherry on the house. Everything was great;except for the food. The food wasn't unappetizing by any means, but it was lacking flavor. The cheeses were mild at best (manchego should be strong and salty) and every fish just seemed to lack spice. I would come here for the atmosphere, not for the spanish food.

Having spent some time in Spain we were longing for some Spanish food here in NYC and decided to try El Porron. The decor is quite pleasant, our wait staff was very attentive, but the food, in a word, was terrible. We had two different shrimp dishes, and both my partner and I felt that the meal tasted as if some small frozen shrimp had met up with their respective sauces only moments before the dishes arrived at our table. Also, the steamed vegetables were tasteless. If you want to try a good Spanish meal, this is not the place.
