El Paso Taqueria

I am reviewing the location on 97th st. This was by far the worst "authentic" Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. I really have not one good thing to say about it. I love Mexican food and know real Mexican food and this ain't it. We were promptly seated in the center of the restaurant and handed the menus quickly. After seeing the reviews that were on the back of the menu we thought we were in for a treat....ten minutes later we finally get the one waiter in the restaurant. We ordered ONE carne enchilada taco and ONE bistec(steak) torta,, chips and salsa, a beer, a sangria, and water.....that's it. The beer, sangria and chips and salsa came about ten minutes after the order(we never received our water the whole night). The very tiny portion cup of salsa was full of heat but had no flavor. We quickly ate up the salsa and were left with a basket full of salt-less chips. 30 minutes later we finally got our food. How is it possible to make a sandwich with steak, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion and beans void of flavor.? ...well they did it. The steak was undercooked, pink actually and flavorless, and chewy. We finish our meal and ask for the check...Ten minutes later the waiter comes by and asks if we are done and if we want anything else. (guess he didn't hear us ask for the check even though he nodded.) Seriously EVERY person in that restaurant was livid by the service. Two different couples next to us had to leave before the food even came(one left before the menus came). I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I'd stick with going to this place as opposed to ordering in. Also, go with one of their creative entrees and stay away from the burritos. They are stuffed with way too many peppers and mushrooms... And while I realize that this place is actually authentic (no rice and beans inside) they've overlooked one thing - mushrooms and peppers are FULL of water if not cooked down first. A soaking wet watery grey mess at the bottom of my plate was not appetizing.

Ordered a lot of beef(encebollado),taco bistec and tortas bistec. My main complaint is the beef was too bloody tasting. It wasn't literally bloody, just very gamey, muscular tasting. They really need to marinate the beef in something that will mask the inferior quality of the beef. Delivery was prompt and the order taker was courteous. Prices may have gone up.

I love the food here, but have had bad experience with the service. The guacomole is fantastic but when I ordered it the last time I ate there, it never came. How annoying to watch people who walked in and ordered after us enjoying their guac! Even after I reminded the waiter, it never arrived. I stick to delivery from now on.

If you want great authentic Mexico food you have to stop by here. You have to try the Guacamole! It is definitely the best. Accepts Visa & Mastercard only...

Hands down, the best Mexican I have EVER had. And this is traditional Mexican. I find it curious how some of the reviews say small portions. I found the portions to be huge and found it difficult to even finish my plate! I've never tasted such amazing guacamole in my life and the enchiladas were spectacular. Really good pitcher of Margaritas as well, very strong, they certainly did not skimp on the tequila! Viva El Paso Taqueria!

This was a pleasurable find. The restaurant is on a residential street and has a homey feel to it. The guacamole is fresh and so good! It's a must have. I have eaten here twice and enjoyed my meal each time. This place is definitely worth a try.
