awesome again
Previously I gave this place a bad review...but it's been consistently awesome for the last several months.

What happened to my favorite restaurant?
I'm tired of giving this restaurant (once an addiction) the benefit of a bad day. When I moved into town three years ago, I found this place to be the only thing I craved in the area. I would walk past and start salivating. But the past three months at this place have been disappointing. The flavor of the food is bland, not worth it anymore. My order has been wrong twice. And one time they forgot to make my food - I got there and was told to come back later without so much as a "sorry" just a little grin "whoops." Don't waste your money.

Closest Thing To Home!
Food A+ I've only had delivery but it honestly taste like Mama's cooking! Previous reviews comment as expensive, I'd like to disagree.

Pros and cons
I've been going to el paso since before it was trendy. The food has always been good but the location was tight. Now that they moved across the street you feel like your in an actual restaurant. The only thing that bothered me about the new menu is that some of our favorites were gone. I asked for a burrito and got it but who ever heard of a mexican burrito overstuffed with mushrooms! I would still say the food is great but its hardly the most authentic mexican food in the area.

Great specialty dishes
Living in the neighborhood I've been here a few times now. While I wouldn't say they're exactly cheap Mexican (ok, I would say they're definitely not cheap), I wouldn't say they have outrageous prices either. Try to go at an off time. During peak hours it's always packed and it's a small restaurant. The tables are pretty close together so it's definitely a tight squeeze. The guac is good but not spicy at all which is disappointing especially since they ask you if you want it mild, medium, or hot. When I say "hot", I'm expecting to get something "hot"! The specialty entree dishes are really good. I've had both pork chop and chicken dishes and haven't been disappointed yet. The service is good and you can see into the kitchen from the dining area so you can see them preparing your food. They also have flat screen TVs hanging on the wall so you can see whatever soccer, baseball, or football game is on at the time.

Mmmhmmm!!!
El Paso is the closest you're gonna get to eating authentic Mexican food in NYC (and this comes from a true Mexican). The guacamole is the best in town and they offer great variety; the tamales are also exquisite. For delivery, it's a bit expensive, but well worth the price. For dining there, make sure to make a reservation, because the table space is limited and they always seem busy! Overall a great place, highly recommended!

This place is GREAT
I have only ordered take-out, but everything I have eaten here is awesome. The chorizo anything is my fave, the tortilla soup, tortas, burritos and the enchiladas rock. Even the salad was good. Great authentic Mexican food and fresh. Somthing about the pico de gallo that tastes awesome on everything. Delivery is really quick too.
