table for 12, mexican brunch, excellent mole
Great homemade salsa and some of the best mole I have ever had. Please God, let me remember when I need to - that you can get a table for 12 here. The brunch gives you a drink and a gigantic plate of food. Perfect fried eggs in green mole, chilaquiles with mole - spicy and enormous. Burrito with chorizo made our friend happy. We finished up with a buttery flan and a cafe con leche in an earthenware mug. mmm. simple mexican souvenir decor and sweet people working here.

Very surprised by the good reviews
My meal at this restaurant was probably the most bland thing I have ever eaten at a restaurant. I ordered the chicken fajitas and what arrived was completely plain fake strips of grilled chicken and assorted vegetables. None of it had any seasoning on it.....at all. It was completely plain. It was served with plain white rice and pinto beans that I would guess came out of a can. I honestly don't know how anyone gave this place a good review.

Holy smokey mole!
At first it appeared we made the wrong decision choosing this restaurant. We ordered the sizzling vegetable fajitas and the mole rojo ranchero with pork. The presentation was lack luster, so we were a little nervous to dive in. Although, the salsa rocked that accompanied the complementary chips. So, we dove into our meal combining the veg fajitas with the pork mole on a tortilla. After a tentative first bite... pow! Damn, this food is good! The mole rojo ranchero gravy is spicy, smokey, and awesome! Bite after bite was an exploration of mexico!

Such a good time
I went here this past Saturday for my friend's birthday and had a GREAT time. We made reservations for about 14 people and though different parts of our party came at different times they seated us immediately. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The only drinks I had were the Margaritas which were awesome, I tried a little of my friend's white sangria which was also really good. The food was perfect and basically exactly what I wanted. It wasn't the fanciest place in Manhattan but it was such an enjoyable experience I would most definitely go back again!

Real dissapointment
Well, i don't know how 29 reviewers can be wrong, but food at this place is really bad. And that's pretty much everything we ordered: guacamole (from a can?) and chips (stale oil taste), shrimp (can again?), rice (overcooked), vegetables (a brown indistinguishable mass). The only eadible thing was refried beans. Not to mention that drinks we ordered were never delivered.

best mole...
you'll ever have in nyc. you don't come here for the atmosphere, you come here for the home-cooked food. the people who work there are super hospitable and use family recipes. it's an awesome place for a group too. what's better than pitchers of margaritas and chicken enchiladas w/ mole?
