Very Enjoyable
This place was a nice surprise. You felt as if you were in some little latin country. The food was very good, very fresh and the service was prompt and polite. With tip the meal came to $50 for 2 (this included very good Arepa's - 2 orders, drinks and main courses). This is a nice little out place that I highly recommend.

Expensive and simple (caro y simplon)
Very expensive for just a menu full of arepas and tostones. Even the price for the pabellon criollo is out of proportion. Portions very small and nothing spectacular. Don't even try the mini-micro-tiny arepas dulces, it is just 4 pieces the size of a quarter with a tea spoon of sour cream...all that for 5 dollars!

Nice and Tasty!
Great Venezuelan food, very warm space, super friendly owners...I big HIT! You must go there! Order some arepas and drink some chicha! The best!

Disappointed
This restaurant was not what I expected based on the reviews I read (which I should have realized since it's all subjective anyway). The portions were very paltry. For example, we ordered the yucca fries ($5.00 including sour cream) along with the guasacaca (Venz. guacamole), an additional $4.00. Although I realize it's only an appetizer, for $9.00 I expected more than seven or eight yucca fries and a tablespoon portion - literally - of guasacaca which was served side by side in a spoon dish w/ the sour cream. There were only five or six kinds of arepas to choose from and for $5.00 each, they were rather small. The service was not that great either considering the restaurant was not even busy. I won't go there again. I'll try Flor's Kitchen or Caracas Arepa Bar which offer a greater variety of arepas for less money.

A great addition...
to an overpriced neighborhood. Went with two others and shared all dishes. Everything was superb. The service was gracious. The space is cute and transporting. I will go again and for lunch too.

El Cocotero brings Venezuela to Chelsea
With arepa restaurants popping up around the city, I was happy to discover El Cocotero. They serve the real cuisine of Venezuela. It is spacious enough to meet friends too(unlike some of the other cramped places). The music, the palm trees,etc...make for a fun get-away too.

Wepa Arepas!
I love this place! Usually when my friends suggest going to latin hot spots, I am left to only beans and rice-I'm a vegetarian. But El Cocotero rocks! I could feast off the starter menu alone. The salads and sandwichs are large enough to share and the arepas are divine with their various stuffings. The decor is fun too, with palm trees and brightly colored walls. This is a great spot for meeting friends afterwork for some chachacha!
