A lovely neighborhood find!
My husband and I had dinner here last night and it was great. The great smell of home cooking hits you when you enter, and everything we had was wonderful. Lorraine, the waitress, worked the entire room by herself, which made for a bit of a wait but it was worth it (I'm not sure I would go here on a weekend for that reason). I had the shrimp, which was incredible, and he had flank steak, which he loved. We had wine, appetizers, coffee and dessert and our bill was only $80 before a tip - which we consider very very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

Not recommended
The arepa was tough and hard to eat. The filling was tasty but the meat was also tough. So eating it was very messy. I waited for a while for 1 arepa, something that should take 2 min less, also not the cheapest arepa in the city. So that’s one place I’m never going back for lunch.

Great Food and Atmosphere...
I had the opportunity to take my father, whom is from Venezuela, to eat here and we both loved it. The atmosphere was very relaxing. The food was delicious and I recommend everyone that enjoys latin cuisine to give it a try.

Great food, good presentation
I must admit I was very happy I found this place !!! I was born and raised in Caracas and for years, I have been looking for a place in New York to enjoy good Venezuelan food .Everything we had was excellent , from the appetizers, "degustacion", an arepas-sampler with with 4 different fillings to the Hallacas, a traditional Venezuelan holiday dish. I must admit it was one of the BEST ones I have ever eaten !!! I must say I found the prices of the arepas a litlle expensive for the type of dish, however, we would definetely go back for more Hallacas and to try something else in the menu !!!!

The food is delicious!
This place is a small restaurant and it's not very fancy but the food is delicious. I tried the the patecones de pernil, which is a pork sandwich but instead of bread they use plantains to hold everything together and this was delicious. I also tried the guarapita drink and that was a bit sweet but still good. I found that with this place you don't really need to know this type of cuisine to find something good on the menu.

Chill and sweet
Hey, great restaurant. Definitely good food , very gentle and friendly personnel and moderate prices. Yeah, I would change one thing here and there about the decor, but who cares, the food is good and YOU make the ambiance. Venezuelan home-cooking taste! Heads up!

A great find!
El Cocotero! - It's quaint for couples, great for groups, and perfect for those who like good food & great drinks! Talk about delicious drinks! We tried the Guarapita - passionfruit, mango, & rum...a definite must try! Although, I would also like to try the Passionmosa! - will be at the top of my to-do list the next time I head out to cocotero! You can make a meal out of the arepitas!
