El Charro Espanol
Posted by Jim Golden on 12/31/2013
My wife and I have been going here for 36 years. In that time, they only had 2 owners and they've maintained their excellence over that period of time, down to the simple house salad dressing. We will be going for 30+ times on New Years eve tonight. A family tradition, now with a granddaughter in tow. Never had a bad meal and have tasted most of their large, impressive menu!

Food ( grilled salmon, salads, clams casino, shrimp-clams-scallop paella ) was great and so was sangria.

went to el charro 2x recently and was treated very well both times. I called in advance because I can't eat garlic and they told me, no problem, the chef would cook anything to my specifications. I had the filet mignon and others had the paella. We had to wait a bit for the food - which is a good thing - it was actually cooked by a chef! it was piping hot and delicious. everyone was happy. the sangria is excellent. second time it was a bit busy but maybe that's because it was Cinco de Mayo. I love the potatoes that come with the filet - yummy. I will go back. Nice local place with good food and good service.

This place is amazingly awesome. The food is consistently cooked to perfection. Everything on their menu is so delicious. It's my number one pick!

Went in el charro for the first time in 1967 while working at a restaurant across the street. Have eaten there ever since. Have recommend it to people from all over the world. All have thanked me. Food great, drinks great and I love the coffee el charro. If you like to enjoy great food and drinks I say go there and enjoy a great evening.

El Charro Espanol was suggested by my sister in law one night and for this I will forever love her! This is an excellent restaurant. Although it might seem small to some it has an intimate ambiance and the friendly, unobtrusive service makes one feels as if one is dining at home. The quality remains unchanged since the first time I visited over ten years ago. I am not surprised that this restaurant has been in business for more than eighty years. The food is on par or even better than recommended restaurants I visited in Madrid and Barcelona. But it is also an excellent value. The meat portions are very generous as are the seafood dishes. The meals also come with a salad. The sangria achieves a perfect balance of liquor and fresh fruits. And as a special treat try the cafe el charro for a great end to your evening.

This place used to be so good but when I went here tonight, it was such a disappointment. The service was still great but the quality of the food went down. We ordered Paella A La Valenciana and Today's special, lamb, for entrees but both of them were too salty. The only thing that was still good was guacamole. And also Cappuccino. Maybe it was just today or the food we ordered but I'm afraid to come back to this place now...
