Food, drinks, salsa, it was all subpar, barely edible. Because I could see that sending it back would do no good, I politely pushed the food around my plate and left. I don't understand how a place like this stays in business. There are several other places closeby, and I would say they are all better than this place.

    Just GO!

I've been going to this friendly neighborhood bar & restaurant since a few days after it opened. I've enjoyed countless good to excellent meals here ... and that bar serves the best frozen Margaritas I've ever tasted! If the owner is there ... be sure to speak with her. That warmth is genuine and she runs a tight ship! Make a friend of this charming lady and you''ll enjoy going again and again. I have no hesitation in recommending El Azteca to friends here and from out of town.

The drinks were warm and supposed to be frozen. The food tasted like it came from a wholesale factory. I could have made better Mexican food than this. The atmosphere was cheap with Christmas lights and fake candle light. The place was loud and crowded (although I don't know why). I would not recommend this place to anyone.

    there's better

el azteca has been in the hood for years. not sure why...food is mediocre at best, service not terrible & much better if they know you. i think the chips are fried in lard. there used to be a better chef ...don't know where he went. can get loud. margaritas on par with what you'd expect. great for a happy hour after work & they are children friendly, but eat somewhere else for authentic mexican fare.

    Taquitos

Went for Margaritas and some chips/guac. Ordered the taquitos. They were AMAZING. Best ever and it is now a dish that I crave. I can eat them now. They are soooo good. The margaritas are excellent as well!

    frustrating delivery service

    1. person taking phone order could barely hear me. took 10 minutes just to tell him my address & phone number. should have given up then. 2. delivery took 45 minutes, because delivery person waited 10 minutes in the lobby of the hotel, instead of calling me. finally found him in the lobby after we called the restaurant. 3. ordered "plain cheese quesadilla for a child;" recieved quesadilla with jalepeno peppers, salsa, and sour cream slathered over it. 4. didn't get the extra side of rice i'd ordered. food itself: well the extra time sitting in salsa and sour cream certainly didn't help the soggy, cold quesadilla any. and the soggy, cold vegetarian enchiladas had canned mushrooms and a little spinach.

    Great Authentic Neighborhood Mexican Place

I adore this little warm and friendly place and always take out-of-towners to show them where the discerning locals eat. Everything is great at El Azteca... Frozen Margaritas are superb (raspberry is my personal favorite, made to order), but their regular lemon-lime one is perfectly fine and most popular... I'm a huge fan of their quesadillas... Steak ones or shrimp ones, especially... Fajitas are served the old fashioned way: arriving sizzling on the steel platter and are well seasoned and delicious. They'll make guacamole fresh at your table if you wish, a spectacle that my tourist friends always seem to enjoy... And service is always right on, whether it's peak time or not... I've been meeting and taking friends and family here for about 10 years now, and have never been disappointed.
