I am hooked on the Torta Sandwhices

The place is real basic and small, with seating for maybe 15 people, I has that hit or miss look at first, but come in and eat, the food is great. The Torta Sandwiches were so yummy, I am hooked on them. I had never had one--they're like a burrito but with a soft, delicious bread roll instead of a tortilla/wrap. The Horchata drink is a nice treat. A bit sweet but nice as a dessert. Good for takeout. Good addition to the neighborhood. Most of the Young Yupsters live on third & second, so they may miss it. But word will get out.

Some of the Best Mexican food Ive had in the City

This place is a gem in East Harlem. I've lived around the neighborhood for the last 3 years and stop at el aguila at least once a week. Everything in the menu is amazing. The torta cubana, tostadas, and guisado plate are some of my favorite dishes. The portions are always generous and VERY reasonable in price. All the ingredients are always extremely fresh and the restaurant is always kept in a clean condition. The staff has always been friendly as well. Its not much of a sit down restaurant as it is a take out spot but they do have a couple of small tables if you wish to eat there. Overall this place has to be one of my favorite spots in the city for authentic Mexican food.

The eagle (el aguila) has landed!

Extremely pleasant woman on the phone made good suggestions and we truly enjoyed our first meal from El Aguila. Fresh and simple ingredients well balanced and amply portioned. It's nice to see some authenticity enter the neighborhood. What little money you have to spend on a filling meal here will not go to waste!
