Pretty good but be ready for crowds
I find the food to be pretty solid - nothing amazing - but satisfying. The lines at the door on weekends can be a bit much to handle, though.

The Best Veggie Burger Ever!
Except for a few minor reservations (hint: don't go for brunch on a sunday unless you don't mind being rushed out - the crunchy french toast is worth it for an in-and-out type meal, though!) this is one of my favorite comfort-food places. I have yet to order off the dinner specials menu because I met the veggie burger (comes with a side of delectable sweet potato fries) and fell in love. My husband and I both love this homemade veg. burger - it is flavorful and well-textured - it doesn't pretend to taste like meat, it just tastes great!! We're hamburger lovers, so take this to heart! My hubby likes the BLT on challah and I love their oversized milkshakes - thick and frosty, served with the excess shake in the metal cup it was mixed in. The fresh squeezed orange juice is overpriced (i think all the beverages might be). The crunchy french toast comes as an appetizer - crunchy french toast sticks - get it! you won't regret it!

Delicious food, such a treat
I had the chicken rueben, which was amazing! It should only be eaten on the challah bread, perfection. I would omit the side of pickle though, it tasted like dirty water. The service was fine, and the atmosphere was the typical breakfast/lunch crowd, nothing special. Get the chocolate milk shake, just splurge!

What happened?
My wife and I used to be big fans of this place until we had a couple of bad experiences with the food being really disappointing. We went back there today for the first time in a few months only to be disappointed again. The home fries that came with my (good) eggs were cold. The same went for my wife's and friends. We sent them back and were then given what looked like the same fries only this time they were burnt to a point that we couldn't eat them. What happened to this once great diner?

Why wait?
Used to be a regular, but just got tired of the waiting for average food in an over crowded place. I also think it is pricey and would typically rather go elsewhere for my money.

Why, why, why
Every Saturday I walk by the people waiting in line for this place, and every Saturday I wonder why. It is extremely average diner food at not particularly compelling prices. The omelettes are good, particularly the healthkick, as are the pancakes. But to me, the food nor atmosphere do not warrant the wait. Also, despite an atmosphere (if you will) that people may be describing below as upscale, it's the same old dirty glasses and cutlery, paper napkins, stroller-ridden place as every other diner, really. Go in the off-hours or order in, but don't wait in the line!

Sadly Dissapointed
Not much to say here, as my experience was somewhat limited by the rude servant who was obnoxious throughout our meal. Have been here few times for their breakfast, and will give them the benefit of the doubt on that. However, recently had dinner there with a few friends and family, and was expecting much more. Dinner started off with the waiter not acknowledging what everyone in the party would even want to drink. Then to make matters worse, she brought the wrong drink after throwing at us basically, not even allowing us a chance to refute the mistake. Shortly thereafter, the busboy whom we found to be the person that deserved our tip, brought us our food. The food unfortunately was nowhere near up to expectations for the price. The B.L.T had what must have been a whole two slices of turkey and a sliver of bacon with a huge garnish of wilting lettuce. I would have been okay with this had it not cost $8 dollars. Several other members of our party complained as follows. The coleslaw was watery, like it had been quickly run under the faucet before being served. The sandwich was overpriced and had poor ingredients that looked like they spawned from a can. The service seemed biased towards some members of our party, giving them weird looks, both variable portions and quality of food. There is little good to say about having dinner at EJ's, and based on the result of that evening I am now reluctant to even return for overpriced breakfast. Steer clear of this basic diner, and go somewhere that is worth your while. Happy Eating (hopefully not at this joint).
