    My favourite diner!

I love their menu, their food, the retro look and the down to earth but friendly service. We went twice last visit and the male waiters aren't nearly as good as the girls, I have to say, but the food is terrific and the locals kind without being too familiar. I'll be going back...

    most overrated diner in NYC

I love a good diner and I've given EJ's a few chances, but for the life of me I cannot understand all the hype. They are severely understaffed so be prepared to spend a good amount of time waiting to be seated followed by a ridiculous amount of time waiting for food. The last (and final) time I went to EJ's, I ordered a turkey melt and sweet potato fries. The fries were soggy and cold and the sandwich was tiny. Never again. Plenty of other far superior diners in the area.

    What a shame!

I have been ordering from here for years and years, two often more times weekly. Easy, cheap, fast, and decent. ... That is, until lately. Placing a delivery order is challenging to say the least. And then the food arrives unfresh! Salads with wilted and discolored lettuce. Dressings, cole slaw, cream cheese ... nothing is ever chilled let alone cold - wouldn't surprise me if the health dept were to find them in violation of storing food items at improper temperature. Portions are much smaller than they used to be, and one manager (the one who isn't ill-mannered and does have language skills) said to just tell them that you're a longstanding customer so the kitchen won't scrimp on your order. (No thanks, as I'd fear what the kitchen might do instead.) Am through with giving them chance after chance in hopes they'll revert back to the way they used to be, as it's looking pretty unlikely. ... Heck, they might even close, because all the other restaurants that I gave negative reviews on here have!

They're lucky my wife likes their food...

My wife and I have eaten at EJ's a number of times, and while the food itself has been very tasty, I'm afraid that the presentation (small sandwiches and entrees served on giant empty plates) and the service (a flock of dour youngsters who make me sad) do not justify the prices, which are a bit over-the-top. Just a bit, though. Certainly worth making my wife happy.

    Best Veggie Burger

Possibly one of the most delicious veggie burgers I've ever had. I ordered delievery so I can't comment on the atmosphere, but the food arrived within 20 minutes and was warm and perfect

    Yum!

Sometimes there's a long wait, but it's usually well worth it. Great for brunch!

    Overpriced headache

I live in the city - have been to all sorts of diners, coffee shops, etc, but this place is one of the worst. Loud, cramped, small tables overlooking the street...aisles so small that people passing almost land in the jam..and then the food came. You can get a better western omelette in any greek diner. Waiters don't even ask if you want another cup of way too expensive coffee. We will never go back to this place. Luckily we don't have to. There are more than enough wonderful breakfast places around.
