I thought the food was excellent. I had their seared tuna salad for an app and it was outstanding. Our waiter was polite and right on the ball. It is a comfortable place to eat..yes pricy but tell me what New York restaurant isn't? I would go back again.

like other reviewers - I was a bit shocked by the lack of experience with the wait staff. our server cleared our table and dropped off the bill inbetween our first and second courses! obviously this was just a mistake, but it highlights the lack of refinement within the staff. that being said, i really dont care too much about service, rather I am focused on the food. and thankfully, the food at ed's is pretty good. i had the half lobster roll with cup of soup. i took the mushroom chowder over the other chowders. the portion size was small - but delicious. the soup was the essence of mushrooms - which i love. the lobster roll was rich and buttery without too much mayo. my wife got the risotto - which was pretty good. it was not too soupy, had hints of olive oil, truffle oil, and asiago cheese. our apps were both pretty good as well - i had the fish cakes which were smokey and served on top of a great red pepper sauce, while my wife had the salmon tartar which was simple and straight forward. in the end, we had a savored coupon that took 30% off the meal - otherwise it would have been very expensive for what it was.

They were not prepared for a party of 6 at breakfast on a Saturday. We had to ask for Jelly and hot sauce 3 times. The waiter brought it over as the plates were being cleared. He also looked at us like we were nuts when we ordered a cocktail. Really looks like a nice place, food was ok, service was poor.

After many years of enjoyable dining I was very disappointed on the occasion of my granddaughter's birthday present (ballet and dining at Ed's). The service was very uneven. The food was late, cold and the steak inedible. The wait staff and the management were rather unresponsive. I would encourage anyone wanting a quality experience at a fairly expensive price to stay away.

Honestly, this is my first restaurant ever but tI just thought it ws unfair to let this restaurant in the heart of the Upper West Side get away with it First, the scollop ravioli was abysmal--doughy and tastless. Then the golden salmon was cold and tasteless--and the portion was minicule. The, they serve the worst capucinno ever--I had to add a ton of Sweet n' Low and a load of 1/2 ns 1/2 to make it palatible. And the servie was slow and ineffectuual. I will never ever go there again---not should you!

Went to Restaurant Week Lunch with my family. The menu selections for the lunch were all very appealing. The entire meal was excellent, from the appetizer to the entree to the dessert. Everything was fresh and the portions were very generous. In addition, the service was especially good. We had a delightful waitress named Jennifer. I strongly recommend the restaurant for the Restaurant Week Lunch which we were told was going to be continued through September. I live in Manhatten and eat out several times a week and strongly recommend the restaurant. Again, it was a very good meal and the restaurant is very nice looking.

we were regulars here until we were charged $62 for a bottle of Hope shiraz that I lbought at the liquor store the next week on sale for $11.20 instead of the usually reasonable $14. As a result, our frequent visits stopped. when will they learn.....
