Wonderful Discovery
A friend of mine brought me to Edgar's a few weeks ago and I was immediately hooked. The restaurant is beautiful, the food (particularly the desserts, but the main dishes as well) is incredibly tasty, and it's a wonderful place to sit, eat, and talk for hours. The service leaves something to be desired, our waitress underbilled us for our food, but I still intend to make this an UWS staple.

Neighborhood staple
I think it's necessary that I put my two cents in. Aas n original upper west sider, you have to appreciate that this is a neighborhood staple, great coffee shop in the midst of an orgy of starbucks' on every corner. The coffee is really good and their cakes are even better. For a nice sit down with friends on the upper west side or just to read a book, don't let anyone steer you away from this coffee shop. Good value and great spot. Love it.

are you kidding?
we are here for the first time last week and i was shocked by how overhyped this place is. for $15 i was expecting at least a decent size sandwich or a serer who spoke english. this place has potential to be a quaint little neighborhood spot with character, but its ridiculously expensive for what it is and the service is a disaster. i wont be coming back.

People food atmosphere make it a 4 star
I was in NYC for work and found Edgar's 'accidentally'. When owner greeted me at the door with her heavenly smile I wondered how it could get any better. I had the tuna with salad which was the best I've ever had. The wine was fabulous. The atmosphere was unbeatable and the waitstaff was great. I can't wait to go back!

Adore the non-dairy desserts
This place is cute, high ceilings, gothic chandelier, but usually pretty crowded and not the best service. Still, I can't believe how incredible the non-dairy chocolate madness cake is- definitely the best non-dairy dessert I have ever enjoyed. I can't confirm whether it's totally vegan, it may have eggs, but lactose-intolerants, rejoice!

Decent food, but ambiance could improve
We really like the food. The cakes are splendid, and the prices are reasonable. However, the owner could be somewhat unwelcoming – too bad. It could really be a great place if attitude of management changed.

Get it to go if you can
Dinner is alright here, desserts are incredible. Best cheesecake in town. BUT service is really tardy. Took them 30 mins to take our order, another 30 to get the check. If you're in for the food you might wanna consider the 'to go option'! If it's the atmosphere you want, come armed with patience :)
