It was the poorest customer service experience I ever had. I ordered a tea. I did not like it and asked if I could get something else instead. I thought that wouldn't be a problem since every other restaurant I've ever been to would just go get something else. Nope! Not here. The waitress kept saying she couldn't do it. Finally she brought over the boss/owner/manager who might be the rudest person I've ever met. He asked what was he supposed to do, just throw it away and lose money? I didn't realize a bag of tea was the same price as a brick of gold. I told him that he was being rude and he basically told me to leave.

Very tasteful decor with friendly staff. Don't forget to eyeball the ceiling. Just had coffee, dessert and wine, but was quite good.

Last night, Saturday October 11, I was babysitting for my nephews and niece along with my own daughter on the Upper West Side. After dinner, it was discovered, much to one of my nephew's disappointment, there was no chocolate dessert in the house. I called a friend for a recommendation for a dessert place that might deliver, and he recommended Edgar's Café - although he was not sure if they delivered. I called Edgar's (without any menu on hand) and the staff was just delightful! One staff member helped me select 4 slices of 2 different chocolate cakes for the children. They delivered the desserts in less than 15 minutes. The children loved the desserts. "Most delicious!" "Fancy!" "This is such a wonderful treat!" "This is the BEST chocolate cake ever!" "You have to try this, Mommy!" I did try a bite of one of the cake slices and it was not only a beautiful presentation, but moist, rich, and everything one would want from a chocolate cake. Thank you so very much Edgar's for an amazing dessert experience! (For this review the atmosphere rating of 5,0 refers to the children being happy and well behaved at home - I did not take them to Edgar's; Edgar's delivered).

Despite being empty, they would only allow me a tiny table, so no space for my laptop during a simple lunch. Left to more accommodating places on the uws.

I used to go to organic restaurant next to Edgar's , but once decided to actually give it a chance and see what this cafe has to offer. I was pleasantly surprised to see that salads and appetizers are so fresh and delicious! Their cakes are so tasty that could not help myself and ordered two pieces to go. Now I visit Edgar's at least twice a week or order take-out. No more tasteless food , but delicious and fresh cakes

Edgar's is the perfect Cafe for breakfast, lunch, light dinner or after dinner dessert and coffee. They have fresh delicious food, European atmosphere, great wine, cappuccinos and scrumptious desserts! Its the perfect place for a casual get together with good friends or a romantic date. I love Edgars!

It's hard to rate the value because the main dishes are pricey for what you get. However, the cakes are fantastic. Less selection than their location in the 80s but it's less crowded with significantly better service. Perfect for a small group birthday celebration.
