    Mixed experience

The atmosphere at Eatery is fun but LOUD, at least on a Saturday night. It can be a little hard to talk over the music. Anyway, the food was good--I especially liked the red velvet cheesecake. However, it's rather on the expensive side for what it is; I am guessing that you could probably get similar choices of equal quality for less money at other, less "hip" restaurants. Where Eatery really falters, though, is the service. Our server was awkward and rather misleading about what came with our meal and what didn't. It was a fun and pretty yummy night out, but because of the prices and iffy service, I can't give it a full-hearted recommendation. While I won't say that I would never go back, I won't be rushing to go again either.

    Stuffed French Toast Rocks

You now I take my Sunday brunch very seriously so it was with great pleasure that my friend and trekked uptown to check out Eatery's Brunch. The fresh bananas and real Belgian chocolate were devine and my bbf enjoyed the Kobe Beef Sliders too!

Two visits - two very good experiences

Had a week in New York - family of four with very divergent tastes - this was the only restaurant we went to twice. Service first time was exceptional, second time more than acceptable. Food excellent, particularly the tofu burger and the mac'n'jack. Huge and very tasty hummus starter. Surprised at the negative reviews but it can get very busy and maybe some waiting staff can't cope. First time out our waiter couldn't believe we had never had key lime pie so organised a freebie for us to share.

    Beware

Ordered delivery. Contrary to stated 15minute delivery time my food supposedly arrived in over one hour. I said supposedly as this was when the delivery guy called me down from my office, however I would wait another 15 minutes. After having talked to 2 different persons at the restaurant, one being the manager, they could finally localize the food. When it arrived it had been completely mangled. The food was ice cold and the beverage was warm.

    Poor service

I was part of a party of 6 ladies brunching on a Saturday afternoon at the Eatery. The bartender & waiter were a real treat and gave great drink/entree suggestions. Unfortunately, one of the meals was incorrect. By the time the mistake was rectified all diners were nearly done with our meals. When the bill did arrive and I saw that the item had not been comped I politely requested that it be removed. Our waiter sent over the host/manager since it was not within his authority to adjust our bill. When I (very politely) requested that the item be removed (and the mgr knew why since he was the one who took my friends plate back to the kitchen to be corrected) his response was, "She ate it, right?" I said, "Well, yes, but it didn't arrive until most of us were already done with our meals." His disingenuous response was, "She ate it. Have a nice day." He then turned on his heel and walked away. I was taken aback to say the least. The food was OK, but to treat customers with such disregard, when they're spending money at an establishment in a city where there are thousands of restaurants to choose from is really appalling. I would not return under the current management and I would not suggest this restaurant to anyone.

    Food good, poor management

The brunch menu was good and the waiter and food was fine. However, the manager was awful and I'm still angry about it now. He was rude when I first put my name down but I forgot about it...then to make a long story short, he purposely let other couples go ahead of my friend and I and then lied about it. Even though the food was good I will never go back again...there are plenty of places in NYC that have good food.

    Meh

This place looks inviting from the street, and the menu is has some appealing comfort food dishes. But our service was spotty last night (waiter sat us, poured tap water, told us about the specials, then ignored us for 20 minutes before even taking our drink orders). The food was mediocre. Overly-battered and doughy calamari (but with a tasty ponzu sauce), a somewhat bland and small burger, meatloaf that looks like a dessert and is drenched in a cream gravy that might be better off on the side, and a plate of braised short ribs and VERY dry mashed-horseradish-potatoes with not enough sauce. Like others have said- it wasn't exactly bad...sort of like upscale diner food turned out with not too much attention. The icing on the cake for me was being charged $7 for a Brooklyn Lager served in a 12 oz water glass. If you're going to charge me $7 for a local beer, at least serve me a pint. If I'm on 9th Ave in the future, this might be a decent fall back option if we can't get a table anywhere else- "Plan C".
