Eata Pita

I am from israel, and coming to ny I did not think I would find that great middle eastern falafel, but at eata pita I did! the falafel was one of the best I have had and the pita was very fresh! their salads and sides were also delicious!

Tried to order a falafel on whole wheat pita and they told me "no whole wheat on weekends". If they were baking the pita themselves fresh daily I guess I could understand. But come on, it's a bag with a twist tie from a food distributor - let it out of the vault!

We had just landed into LGA and our Shuttle dropped us off at Grand Central and while we were waiting for the Hotel Shuttle we were able to get a Chicken Shwarma and Lamb Gyro to go. We've had these 2 dishes while traveling to so many places and this is one of the best. Sure its not purely authentic but the meats were tender and juicy and it was filled.

I used to work above Grand Central and this was the only Middle Eastern place around. For that purpose, it was ok, but nothing great. Typically Israeli - a poor knockoff of real Middle Eastern food, with a bit of poor American knockoff thrown in to boot. The salads are generic at best and often not fresh, certainly not that tasty. The hummus and bread are ok, nothing great, but ok. The chicken kabob though I'll give them credit - it's not authentic Middle Eastern or anything, but it's got this good light sauce on it and actually comes out very tasty, the one thing I would really recommend trying here. Bit pricey for a generic takeout place, but it's Grand Central so well within the fair price range for the location. The place works as a standby, though nothing to write home about.

We stopped here for a quick bite to eat before heading home around dinner time. My husband got the falafel pita and I got the grilled veggies & hummus in a pita. We were not at all disappointed: the sandwiches were a generous size, very reasonably priced (especially for NYC!), and extremely tasty. I rated the food a 5.0, because that's how good I felt it was for this type of eatery. The service only got a 4.0 because it's only take out, but the people waiting on us were very efficient and pleasant (I must add, however, that we were the only customers at the time, so we had the full attention of the entire staff). I only rated the atmosphere a 3.0 because it's a take-out stand in Grand Central, so the atmosphere is completely dictated by the surroundings of the common tables in Grand Central. We're from CT, and wish that there was an Eata Pita in our area, but there isn't. I was trying to figure out if one of us took the train at off peak prices, how bad would that be to run into Grand Central just to get food from here? With all the high-priced restaurants in NY, this is a place we will return to.
