One Time Only
I was not expecting much when I went to E.A.T. for lunch today, especially after reading the reviews here and based on what I read, I decided on take away. The grilled cheese was delicious and the Tuscan wedding soup was everything Ina Garten said it would be. Was it worth it? No, I slapped down $29 for a grilled cheese, quart of soup, 1 meringue cookie and a Limonata. Why does Mr. Zabar charge so much? Location. You've got tourists and rich people, so he can get away with it and can you really blame him? We do live in a Capitalist society that is what business people do.

$16.00 Grilled Cheese...Get Over Yourself
$16.00 for two pieces of sourdough bread and some Gruyere cheese....seriously, are you kidding me. There are great restaurants in the city that are pricey yet you have a chef in the kitchen who has spent years honing his craft so I see great value in the price....not here. There are no Mario Batalis or Bobby Flays in this kitchen I can assure you. "But it's Zabar's, its so good.. ..", stop drinking the lemonade people. This place is way overpriced.

Should be called P.A.Y
I've lived in NYC for 6 years and I have never seen such an overpriced establishment. Sure, there are plenty of pricey restaurants in Manhattan, but usually there is some rhyme or reason to the pricing, and you can understand that you're paying more for the food, service or ambiance... This must be a tourist trap, or maybe there is gold in Chicken Salad-either way don't waste your time. The food is mediocre at best, and the ambiance is right on par with your neighborhood diner. Don't even get me started on the bathrooms......

A.B.S.U.R.D.
There is nothing about E.A.T. to justify their absolutely absurd prices. I wouldn't mind paying $25 for a sandwich that merited that price, but their food is just pretty good, not great.

WAY Overpriced
If you're okay with paying $24 for a chicken pot pie or $18 for a salad, go here. Otherwise, look elsewhere. This place is ridiculously overpriced.
