We visit from the U.K. regularly and find this the best diner in NYC. We always get a smiling welcome and the service is smart and prompt. The breakfasts are great value - even though the OJ is a little small - and it's a great place to call in for food in the evening. But best of all is the pound cake! Forget the fancy pastries and cakes in Vienna, ignore the specialities in S***bucks, call in here for coffee and pound cake - moist, sweet and simply perfect large slices. This place is so enjoyable, not only do we recommend it to everyone, but we even have a photo on the study wall at home.

I've been going to this place since it was the "East Side Corner"... remember that? Anyway, the place moved from the corner to the next door down a few years ago. When they moved, they had to create an entire new diner with all-new booths and counters, etc. The new setup seems more inviting than the old arrangement. As for the food, I have yet to be disappointed. The breakfast is excellent. I have a particular affinity for their burgers. They are consistently juicy and served with a generous heap of fries. The owner is usually inside and he is very warm and friendly. The seating areas are very clean. Deliveries arrive promptly and the staff is always polite. This place is a much better choice than down the block.

I sit at the counter for breakfast quite often. I always talk with the owner, a very friendly, wise Greek man, and his son while I wait for my food. It's nice to have conversationg with them. It gives the place a homey feel. And did I mention the breakfast specials? My favorite is the #2- one egg, bacon, potatoes, toast, cofffee, and juice...all for $5! And it's good! I definitely recommend the place, especially for a quick and filling solo breakfast at the counter.

Great food, fast delivery. Try the pea soup on Tuesday's. Make sure to get extra homemade croutons. Nothing fancy about this place, just good diner food.

Family run operation. Very friendly and anxious to please. Will listen to any suggested new dishes and are always willing to try a new dish out. It is run by Greek personnel and recently added matzoh ball soup at my suggestion and it has proven to be a winner.
