East Japanese Restaurant

The food is delicious, the pricing is excellent, the ambiance is lovely and the service is very good. All in all a wonderful dining experience!

Highly recommend this place for japanese food. Good and romantic atmostphere upstairs. And best of all, the prices are very fair! Enjoy!

I love this restaurant, i have been going here for years. I love how they have two completely different environments, one upstairs and one downstairs. I also love how there are seats on the floor. I think that after the renovation they should have left more seating on the floor available because that was why a lot of people went there. It is different and cultural. Also very few restaurants in manhattan will be bold enough to have seats on the floor. I think the option should have been a little more left open to the guest wit a larger section than that one table.

While edible, this was probably one of the least enjoyable sushi dinners I've had in New York. The fish tasted frozen and thawed, and the rice was watery. I'm not even terribly picky about sushi usually, but unfortunately I would not return here (sad, as it is a block from my apartment). It was cheap, though.

Try and get a seat in one of the more private Japanese style rooms on the 2nd floor. The food and value's are both excellent. Monday tuna, Tuesday salmon specials. The $1 rolls are good and the $4 ones are excellent. You can have a full meal for under $10 out the door. Dessert; try an excellent cheese slice at Mike Due's down the street.

I go here most Tuesday nights for their salmon special. I can get 4 orders of sushi for $10...plus a salad and tip! The prices are great and the food is fresh. Highly recommended.
