East 12th Osteria

We returned once again for dinner last night, and had another wonderful meal. It was quite crowded, which is to be expected of a fantastic restaurant in NYC on a Friday night. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The staff is totally attentive, and fabulous. Good wine selection, I had a nice Italian pinot. We decided to get the specials tonight to see what the chef has created, and we were not disappointed. The seared scallops on a bed of creamy herbed potato with shaved black truffles were to die for. We had the gnocchi special on a bed of brandy-tomato something that was so good I wanted to lick my plate clean. The rabe linguine in some luscious truffle oil sauce with baby shrimp and a large langosta was just fantastic. My wife had the Guazetto Di Pesce and also absolutely loved it, she wanted to lick her plate as well! We finished with a couple of cappuccinos, a tiramisu and the thousand layer vanilla cream pastry – both of which are awesome desserts. We were again totally impressed with the East 12th Osteria. It is currently my favorite upscale northern Italian in NYC – and I think it might be the best. We’ll be back!

I loved the food here. we had a great Sicilian white that was recommended by the staff and we shared a bunch of delicious appetizers. I had the lamb as my entrée and it was delicious. we were a party of 5 and everyone was super happy with their selection. the place is a little bit pricey but worth it. I had the molten chocolate cake for dessert and loved it. I highly recommend this place!

This might be the best modern Italian restaurant in Manhattan right now. I was there twice in two weeks and the food never disappointed. The slowly braised veal cheeks were downright heavenly. The risotto was really beautifully presented and excited the eyes as much as the palate. The duck two ways was magnificently executed and the presence of the orange in the dish made it provocatively appealing. The combination of amazing, delicious food, excellent service and nice and tasteful decor make for a winning combination and a welcome oasis of fine dining in the area replete with restaurants.
