Duke's once offered several BBQ options, and it was good meat even when it was oversauced. I don't remember whether it was actually smoked, but it was at least barbecue style. But our last brunch there was not only bland and overcooked, it could've been from any generic American restaurant. And on our last evening visit, we found that only two 'cue items remained on the menu, a pulled-pork sandwich or a plate of ribs. The rest was salads, burgers, fried chicken, and misc. apps. Duke's was once barbecue style. Now it's barbecue-style-style.

Gotta say no frills just a solid simple place to grab food and enjoy time with friends. Wonderful spot to watch a game, Yankees baseball is around the corner! Save me a seat at the bar...

I only gave 3-stars because the Signature Cocktails are strong and flavorful...and because I had a birthday coupon for a free entree. Besides that, I'd be seriously griping about paying midtown tourist prices for small town bar food. My advice? Go during the 4-7 or 11-close happy hours. Half price booze, beer & apps. I'll most definitely go back on the decently regular for that deal. But paying full price for sub-par service, craptastic tables, hit or miss food, and music so loud that my ears range afterward? Me no think so.

When I walked in with my two friends, we were told to have a seat anywhere, and then we were escorted to a booth in the back of the restaurant. The AC must not have been working because it was very warm and uncomfortable and not a good temperature to comfortably eat at. We ordered the mac and cheese for an appetizer which was really quite delicious. However the meal only went down hill from there. I ordered pulled pork which was almost black in color, and tasted disgusting. The bun was too big and sogggy, and like I said the meat itself tasted horrible. The waitress was unattentive and only had about 3 tables including mine. I would never recommend this place, and would probably never go again!

I actually happen to like the food at this Duke's as well as the other one on 3rd, however my last experience here was atrocious. We were basically the only people in the dining room, yet somehow managed to have the slowest service I've ever had. To top that off, we were served warm pitchers of beer, even after complaining about it.

Everything we ordered tasted subpar. Drinks, lunch, snacks. I would avoid this restaurant. I feel bad for the wait stuff though.

I feel like I stepped into a country bar when I first went to this restaurant. The girls were rude, the men were loud, and there were drunks at the bar. However, the dining area isn't so bad and the food can make up for the horrible service and the disgusting people who come into the restaurant sometimes (as long as you come with good enough company to make you forget these things). The portions are huge and can be shared with at least one other person. I recommend the chicken breast, YUM!
