    There goes the neighborhood...

It's really a shame that this is the only southern cuisine place in the neighborhood. My husband and I were so looking forward to Earl's opening! Just thinking about the comfort food... We only wish they would put as much effort in attending the customers as they did for the decorations. The food is ok, but it's usually late and the place is really noisy. The drinks are ok but expensive. Earl's is the very first "theme restaurant" in Murray Hill and that's really bad news for all of us in the neighborhood.

    Not too shabby

The old kentucky sandwich is delish...I give it 2 thumbs up.

    Great local spot

Cute boys...enough said about the clientele. Great if you're still in college, or just got out, because you don't know better yet. If that's not you, stay away.

    Great local spot

I love this restaurant! A lot of the reviewers here dissed it, but keep in mind that it opened only a few months ago and I think they are adjusting. I live in the neighborhood and ended up there opening night, where I got to chat with the staff. I have gone back several times since, and everyone is always really nice, and the food is good. The portions seem to be growing, as does the speed of service (it was admittedly a tad too slow at first). The mashed sweet potatoes are unreal, the best I've ever had, and we just discovered that the nachos kick some serious butt. I say give it a chance - it brings out a lot of the cute boys in Murray Hill, they play good music and the food is yummy.

    Not Recommended

I ordered the ribs and they could not have been worse, macaroni and cheese and baked beans could not possibly have been worse, at least I don't see how. Staff's attractive that's about all it's got going for it.

    typical murray hill

high school cafeteria food, ala every other restaurant in murray hill for the post college frat boys and my-daddy-pays-the-rent girls. service is in-line with the food, mediocre at best. they hired cute waitresses to distract you from the fact that they don't give a damn. whopping 2 beers on tap, and they've messed up my oder 4 out of 4 times. don't waste your time, walk another 10 blocks, spend a few more dollars (sorry, daddy!) and go to blue smoke.

    Fun atmosphere, horrible service!

Earl's is an all around good time although the service is horribly slow,. The last time I was there, our waitress was extremely obnoxious to our entire table. Drinks are potent but they always seem to run out of popular items (ie. margaritas)
