What has happened to Due?
We used to enjoy Due, but had not eaten there for several years. We should have known that things had changed for the worse when the waiter showed us our table and arranged us by body type: he actually told the thinner people that they should sit where the table was squashed against another group and there was the least amount of room. The restaurant was much too crowded, and consequently too noisy. The salad plates and salads were very cold, and had obviously been made and refrigerated long before. My pasta was actually overcooked and mushy; my date’s fish was oily and unappetizing. We had no dessert or coffee and the bill was over $150.00 – we won’t be going back.

Just Right
This lovely northern Italian does everything right. A nice room, great service (even when they're busy), a good wine selection by the glass (including an excellent Shiraz) and an extensive menu with lots of specials. All the expected Italian favorites can be found alongside some more interesting fare. The eggplant croquette salad was a great start to the meal. In truth, the croquettes were probably more dough than eggplant but were so tasty served over a well-dressed salad and a generous amount of fresh goat cheese. The veal piccata and the verdi gnocchi with asparagus were perfectly made. We did find their version of a molten chocolate cake to be slightly too fudgy. But, although we wouldn't normally dream of passing up a chocolate dessert, the fresh berries in zabaglione served in a crispy shell were absolutely sublime. The restaurant is busy so consider making reservations unless you're dining early. And keep in mind that they don't accept credit cards. But otherwise, relax over a glass of wine, dig into some great Italian food and enjoy!

Neighborhood Gem
Due is an absolutely wonderful restaurant and a neighborhood gem. The food matches the most trendy restaurants in Chelsea or the West Village with service that is welcoming and caring. Their wine selection is superb with many reasonable bottles, especially red wines. They are gracious and will explain the menu and never push their specials. Their fish is fresh and well prepared and their pastas are wonderful, too. Our only concern is that the secret is out and its becoming too crowded. Definitely one of our favorite places.

Not recommended
Just another OK Italian restaurant in the neighborhood...portions were small, service wasn't great, but at least the atmosphere was tolerable. We need more Pomodoro-type (located on Columbus on the west side) of Italian restaurants around here...I don't mind paying the high prices for that kind of quality food.

Perfect in every way
I was expecting just another UES Italian. It wasn't. The food was fresh and properly seasoned; simply prepared, but flavorful. The house wine was satisfactory. The decibel level was also great -- it's easy to hear and be heard. I had a business discussion during cocktails for which this restaurant works very well.
