Food and service is failing
I've been to this place about 4 times. Service and food has consistently faltered and it's as a previous reviewer said not as good as it was even a couple of months ago. My shrimp bisque was extremely saltly and the waiter brought out the wrong order. The only redeeming thing was the hot chocolate but that's not enough for me to go back anytime soon. I'll try again in a couple of months to see if things have changed.

No Longer a Value!
Its true times are rough and prices are increasing but entrees that were 19.00 bargains are now 27.00! I have been visiting since 06. It seems that since word of mouth has spread something is being lost due to complacency. The spring rolls one of my favorites, were so bitter recently ,even when dipped in the sweet sauce that accompanies them. This is something that could only happen when the frying oil is not changed often enough. The lamb empanadas in my opinion were made with heavily curried chicken. I tasted no lamb at all.The short ribs special was the smallest portion of food I have ever eaten there. This was unreal, considering that it was an inferior cut of meat than the ribeye and the difference was a dollar! When inflation rises it is important to be consistent with both flavor and portions. When a person is full and satisfied the price increase does not matter as much. I hope fame has not caused managment to take their eye off the ball. P. S. Bakery so far, has been great.

Best Chocolate Banana Tart!
So, I've only tried the chocolate banana tart here, but I've eaten about two dozen in a short amount of time and have not tired of them at all. It's the best version of this dessert that I've found in the NYC area. As good as the ones I grew up with in the South...

Best cupcakes in New York City
These cupcakes are the best in the city, bar none. Anyone who says to the contrary is a fool. They are moist, delicious, and large. They speak for themselves--go and try for yourself. Don't believe the hype and forget the so-called popular spots in the West Village and elsewhere, Downtown Atlantic has got it figured out.

Cookies are good but not the cupcakes
Any cupcake with white icing tastes like it is topped with greasy butter. Any yellow cake cupcake is dry. Chocolate ganache and chocolate cake are okay, but strangely tasteless. The butter cookies are delicious, if they are fresh...which sometimes they aren't. Coffee is good when it is fresh. Food very spotty at best. Had a bowl of seafood corn chowder that was so thick, I had to pour a half a glass of water in it to return it to spoonable consistency. Fish and chips were made with old fish that smelled like ammonia. The burger and fries are okay, but sometimes the bun is very dry. Delivery is iffy. Sometimes it just never comes. Sometimes you order and then 45 mins. later they call and tell you they don't have a delivery person. I want to like it. I wish I could.

Jumbo Cupcakes
The cupcakes are much larger than those at the bakery down the street, but lack any real flavor. The icing tasted more like butter than chocolate and the cake was somewhat dry. I guess I'll stick with the entrees.
