    Very dissapointing

My partner and I went to Dos Caminos on the recommendation of Fodors travel guides (we are from Scotland) looking for hearty, tasty and real Mexican food but alas we were extremely dissapointed. The overpriced portions were tiny and extremely bland, leaving us completely underwhelmed. Next time I will do more research when looking for good Mexican food in NYC.

    Unfortunately Disappointed

I've been to Dos Caminos Park before, and it was great. So, I went with a group of 12 to the Soho location and who know that'd be a mistake. The food was delayed, the service was basically nonexistent, we had no light at our table, our water glasses were empty, and it was hot and muggy in there. Not recommended for groups more than 6 because they seem not be able to handle it. The guacamole was good as always, though!

    Great atmosphere, small portions

I called on a Tuesday and was able to get a reservation for 3 at 7pm (715-930 was all booked up though, so beware). I had read the reviews on the small portions so i wasnt quite as shocked when my 3 chicken tacos (appetizer) came out and looked like they were for the kids menu. Prickley pear margaritas were delicious, I had 2. We were also seated in the back of the restaurant, so it didn't seem as crowded as some of the other reviews stated. I would ask for a table in the back...it seemed to make our experience much more enjoyable...we were able to hear each other and weren't getting bumped into. Service was good and atmosphere was fun. I would eat a large lunch and then come here for margaritas later in the day next time.

Great atmosphere, poor food, poor service

People raved about the guac -- it was really good -- but everything else was really unimpressive. I got the chopped salad and mahi mahi tacos, and both were pretty bad. I tried my friend's skirt steak -- also not lean and not tasty. Plus, our waitress was not good. My friend asked for a side of rice -- she never brought it. She also never brought the large wooden spoon for the guac. Definitely not worth it!

    Eh food

The only good thing here is the guacamole and chips. The sangria was just ok, but very expensive. And the food was subpar. For an entree I had the shrimp quesadilla, which sounds delicious, but for 21 dollars it was appetizer portion and just didnt taste good. My friend had the enchiladas which also were very unappetizing. If you want "trendy", tasteless, and expensive mexican food this is your place.

    All around great place

I took a date here and we were both so impressed with everything. It was a fun restaurant with great atmosphere, the guac was amazing, and our entrees were so good. Prefect place to take someone out to dinner, highly reccomend it.

Looks made me go in. The food, out.

There is nothing much to say, really. It's the perfect tourist trap of NYC: great looks, and when you think the food is on par (I don't mind paying IF the food compensates), you ask for it only to realize you shouldn't. I know they have guacamole, but I was trying something new. After all, if you don't, how can you know? I asked for scallops, but it took some time before it arrived. But that's not the problem, since I don't like pre-made food (for the time, it's probably not that). The problem was the scallop itself... flavourless. The rice was actually better, but extremely spicy. Now I know they have "degrees" of spice in the foods, but the waiter was kind enough to not tell me that when I asked him about how spicy their food was. Please, I already ate scallops in three different continents. I ate them all the time, and I never ate one that was so plain. I can even accept bad scallops, but plain, flavourless scallops are just even worse. Of course, not everything is bad there. The guacamole is probably good (everyone was eating it), and the atmosphere is "muy agradable" indeed. However, let's just remember that I eat food, not atmosphere.
