    Enjoyable Experience

The place was crowded, the wait was half hour longer than they said it'd be, and the drinks were expensive ($6 for a bottled beer). BUT, the food has been under-rated. It was fabulous. The guacamole is prepared fresh and was plenty for my wife and me. I had enchiladas and my wife had skirt steak and both of us were amazed at the flavors. The portions were decent...not huge, but not small by any means. Also, we were asked to have a wonderful night ont he way out. I'd say it lived up to its name.

    What's all the hype about?

I agree with the prior postings that this place is just mediocre. I was there with a group of 7 people. The waitress "hated" us right away because we did not order drinks, which, by the way, seemed terribly overpriced. After that, she was less than cordial to us. We did have the guacomole, which was great, but they did not fill the bowl enough. Considering that they charge $12 for something that maybe costs them a couple of dollars, they could be more generous. My entree was nothing great and I had to remind them to bring the salsa with it. I also think I was supposed to get rice, but I did not want to make a stink in front of the others. I think my friends would agree that none of us would be too anxious to go back there anytime soon.

If you have a baby, forget about it!

If you are a parent and have a stroller forget about this place. They will tell you that for liability purposes you need to fold it or can't get in. I almost walked out but they made an exception for me this time!!! The guacamole and chips are great! But they forgot to bring my appetizer and my main course, a quesadilla, was dissapointing!

    Ok I guess

The salsa, guac and rice are the bomb, while everything else can be improved. Theatmosphere is picture perfect, but that does not make up for the lees than stellar meals.

    Mediocre at best

I expected more from Dos Caminos. The people are friendly, the place looks great, but in the end, I'd give this place a thumbs down because the food was just so mediocre. Ceviche was uninspiring, the cheese fondue appetizer plain, and the entrees felt like they were prepared in a hurry by a chef pretending to be top class. Perhaps I went with the wrong expectations, but this is a fancy looking, overpriced, average Mexican cuisine restaurant.

    Lovely Meals

After trying to come to this place for months, I finally made it-twice in the same weekend!! I'm not one to rate highly for service, but it was very good, we weren't pestered during our meal. The food arrived in a timely manner, the waitresses were all friendly and helpful and attentive despite the busy crowd. The food, well the Guacomole is the best in NYC-what can I say but everyone that told me that was right!! It's fresh and made to order and was nice and spicy the way I like it! My mother who loves this dip also really enjoyed it! The rest of the food is alright, overpriced for what you get I suppose but the enchiladas had lovely sauces and the chicken tacos I had were a nice small portion. I could finish my meals which is a nice change than wasting food! The Margarita selection is good too. Definitely worth the visit-I shall be going back sooner rather than later! NB The Soho menu is priced slightly less for some dishes than the Park Ave one, so I'm going to head to that one in future I think!
