As much as I love Korean food - I've typically been turned off by the decor and drink selections. Don's Bogam changed my mind about both! Loved the food, service was perfect in that they didn't rush us at all, but were attentive and available as needed. Atmosphere is charming and there is no overwhelming smell of gas from the grills and no smoke! Excellent wine list as well. Really a great dining experience - I can't wait to go again - especially for the bibambop. Prices a bit higher than other places, but so worth it.

Very good value for a midtown lunch and they don't kill you on the drinks. Solid Korean BBQ, will definitely return in the future.

It was very good food!! Plus all the servers were very very nice! They also have a variety of wines, sake, and some other drinks. the food quality was excellent! This is the place to try korean food! Better than any other korean restaurants in Korea town.

Food was good, service was friendly, but as noted by another reviewer - the wait staff's english was pretty bad. But they are pretty attentive And to address previous reviews, yes, they will cook your food for you, but you can do it yourself too. I'm a slow eater, and I was there with a date, so I wanted to eat at a leisurely pace and be able to talk to my date. I didn't want the food to get cold, so when the waitress came to add more food to the grill, I let her know I wanted to cook it. She was very pleasant about it and it was not a problem. I don't know - maybe they get insulted if you don't gobble the food down, because at one point, I didn't have anything cooking on the grill, and she came over to to ask if everything was okay - she had the look of concern on her face as if something was wrong. Anyway, she was attentive. Although they didn't refill my tea. Truthfully, I find almost universally that my water/tea never gets refilled at restaurants anymore. Why is that?

The food here is excellent the marinated beef and kimchee are the best i've ever had. Only downside is most of the servers don't speak english but are very friendly which helps make up for it.

This is one of the best Korean restaurants I've been to in a while. The food is excellent (our bulgogi came in a delicious marinade and the kimchi was tasty but not overpowering). The staff were very attentive and the decor is very sleek and stylish. I love the pairing of a Korean BBQ with a wine bar. Normally the wine lists at Korean BBQs are either non-existent or very limited. This restaurant, however, had quite a selection. In response to the review posted by anonymous, I'd like to say that typically at a Korean BBQ restaurant, the waiters cook the food for you at your table. This is the case at most restaurants in Korea. Overall, this restaurant is fantastic. I lived in Seoul for two years, I've eaten at countless Korean BBQs, and I can honestly say that Don's Bo Gam does a fabulous job of combining stylish decor with delicious Korean cuisine and a respectable international wine list.

Went there after seeing an article about its opening in Time Out NY. Wanted to try out the table grill thing where you cook your own food. First we get there. Really neat atmosphere (dumb music) but the place is empty. So, myself and a friend both ordered a grill-your-own option from the menu. The waiter sets up the grill....brings the food....places some of the food on the grill or us....and then hovers. He just stands there. We wait, he waits. A minute later he flips the food. We wait some more, he waits. Then he puts the food on the plates. The whole time he is standing at our table. Up until this point I figured that he was going to do a sample run so we could see how it all worked and then leave. But he begins again. He was going to cook all of it. Now, this isn't a watch-it-get-made-at-the-table place. Those are cool too. The grill is actually in the center of a 4-person table. So (1) he has to lean over us to cook our cook-your-own food and (2) of course there is no table conversation going on during this time because he's right there with us. I finally had to tell him that we could handle it from here and he gave me a frown and walked away. After all of that, it wasn't even close to enough food - especially for the money. I don't eat that much so if I'm still hungry then you know there's a problem. I will say, however, that the food we did get was tasty. I won't go back - except maybe if I was in the neighborhood and wanted to go there for only drinks. The atmosphere was pretty cool but everything else was poor.
