Donovan's Of Bayside
Posted by Lara on 12/12/2014
Donovan’s of Bayside used to have the best burgers. My man and I stopped in Donovan’s last night, haven’t been there since it was renovated. The good: Place looks beautiful, with lots of ambiance, we had a great table near the fireplace and our waitress was excellent. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Place had a nice crowd for Thursday nite. The bad: Known for having the best burgers, we can say this is no longer true, much to our disappointment. We both ordered a 10 oz burger with fries, burger cooked medium well. What we received was not a 10 oz burger, but an overcooked small burger on a too large bun. Wished I had taken a photo. Seeing as tomatoes are not “in season”, no point in mentioning but the lettuce on mine was not only wilted, I had to take some off it looked so unappealing with soggy brown ends.......yuk! I only ate half of mine it was that unappealing to me, so my guy ate the rest of it and I ate his fries which were very nice. At $12.00 each for a supposed 10 oz burger with more bun than burger and wilted, old lettuce this was so not worth it. The ugly: Perhaps it is just me, but: I very much dislike when the busy boy starts cleaning off the table when one is still eating. It was not as if the place was packed and there were lines for seating. My guy had only just finished and I was still eating the fries. The busy boy actually asked me if I was done eating!!!! I had to take the french fry out of my mouth to answer him. Conclusion: We will not be going back again.

We have been a long time diners of donovans. Tonite was the worst experience - the noise level at the place is beyond horrible. We could absolutely not carry on a conversations, because of the drinking crowd at the bar. Last time for us!!!!
