    Reluctant service, poor value

Overpriced italian pizza place with pizzas with thick tough crusts and characterless tomato base sauces. Sure I would eat that kind of pizza at a takeaway in my hood, but at 18.95 a pop i'm expecting something better. Service was nothing to savor either. The waitress was reluctant and distracted.

    Italy in New York

Everytime I come to New york, I always stop by my favorite Italian restaurant Don Giovanni. Bar none the pizza is the best brick oven pizza in New York and their pastas are delicous and are generous portions. They have very friendly waiters that make you feel real welcome, it is like being in mom's kitchen. Sometimes there are lines to get inside but considering there open kichen is small, I understand it is worth the wait.

Once upon a time Don Giovanni was the best place to get pizza or other italian fare delivered in the neighborhood. No longer. It has gone so far downhill that tonight marks the last time we'll be ordering from them. Not only is the quality and value of the food poor, but it now takes forever to get a delivery and then when it finally got here some of it wasn't even the right order.

We ordered a large pizza and a meatball hero for delivery. We were unhappy with our meal. Eventhough the food was delivered in a timely manner, the pizza was burnt and the cheese had slid all over the place and the meatball hero only had 2 meatballs and no sauce. To make matters worse when we called to let the restaurant aware of the situation, they were rude and said that is "what we paid for and there was nothing they could do for us" and hung up the phone. They eventually called back to re-assure us that there was NOTHING they could do.

After reading some reviews about how good the food was, I ordered-too bad I don't agree with them. I ordered a Meatball parm hero. An hour after I ordered, I called to find out where my food was. They said he should be there any moment. About 15 minutes later, my dinner finally arrived. I think they ran out of hero rolls because the bread they used was not normal for a sandwhich. Not that big of a deal. The hero was cold and had very little sauce. This will be the last time I order from Don G's.

    Great for Delivery

We order delivery from Don Giovanni at least once a week. The chicken parm. and eggplant parm. are both great, and the price is right! The pizza is also very good, although a little smaller than most NYC pies (about 12inches). Quick, consitent delivery! Give it a try!

    Pleasantly surprised

We went to dinner here before a theatre performance. The food was served quickly, but the service left a bit to be desired. The portions are generous. My niece had the fettucini alfredo and said it was delicious. I had the veal piccata and found it to be quite good. We had the pesto crostini. We found the pesto to be too spicy for our taste, but the chopped tomato bruschetta was delightful. Prices weren't too bad, either.
