    Mediocre Food

A recent experience here was most unfortunate: We asked for some vegetables to be substituted for pasta that would accompany the veal piccata, and after the waiter checked with the kitchen, we were told that there would be a $2 extra charge on top of the $15.95 for the dish. An antipasto appetizer was served as an "un-appetizing" chopped salad, and consisted mostly of cubed ham and salami, squares of mozzarella, 2 pitted olives, a couple slices of cukes, radishes, tomatoes and a few bits iceberg lettuce, all for $9.95. But one member of our party ordered a pizza, and was happy enough with it. Our previous experience with them was with delivered pizza, which is sometimes very good, sometimes soggy. The waiter was nice, the place is comfortable enough, and we sure wish it was better because it's right in our neighborhood. They must be clueless as to why their restaurant is empty at dinnertime. We know why now, but only after the fact. Hard to believe that they think this is acceptable in New York, in 2008.

    Poor Delivery Service, inconsistent food

We live nearby and we've ordered many times, unfortunately more often than not the experience was unsatisfying to say the least. When their food is good, it's great, but it's only good maybe 1 out of 4 times. The rest of the time we get the wrong order, charred or soggy pizza, the pasta is overcooked and last night the delivery guy spilled one order all over the other when he delivered. And on top of that delivery is usually slow (45mins to over an hour) and they usually don't have change. We've given them several chances, but now we've just about had enough.

    Bad Service

I eat at this restaurant often and went in last night with my friend and asked if we could sit in the back. The restaurant at 8:15pm was practically empty. I was told I could NOT sit at a table for 4 and HAD to sit at a table for 2. I asked why and they said that they could not sit 2 at a table for 4 even though I saw another couple sitting at a table for four and we had huge coats and bags with us andthe restaurant was pretty much empty. Then when I orderd my usual Rigotoni Medici the noodles were broken and soggy. Bad experience last night.

    Great Food, Great Delivery

I got delivery from Don Giovanni's a few months ago and was hooked! I order from them so much now, I programmed their number into my cell phone! They are always polite on the phone and their delivery is extremely quick!!....especially for NYC. The stuffed shells are what I order almost every time.....they are fantastic! The food is always fresh and unlike lots of places, they do not skimp on the portion size just because its a delivery. They offer a quick delivery, and a large portion of good food at a great price!! I love Don Giovanni's and will continue to order from them frequently!

    Soggy pizza

My wife and I went to Don Giovanni with my son's urging and recommendation; he loved the pizza there. We went on an early Friday evening and ordered a Margherita and Alle Vongole pizza well done. The clam pizza was completely soggy in the center; I couldn't even lift a slice without having the toppings fall off. The Margherita was luke warm, as if it had been sitting around. This was a total disappointment, as I really looked forward to a great pizza. Don Giovanni may satisfy theatre going tourists but disappointed this New Yorker.

    Reasonable in the theatre district

Ate here with a few weeks ago before seeing a show. Chose it based on reading reviews on Menupages. We were not disappointed! Actually we were very pleasantly surprised! We each had something different, all dishes were delicious and prepared as requested. Service was fast and attentive. It's a cool restaurant in with old fashioned decor - we loved it. And so incredibly reasonable, we'll definitely be back! Not easy to find good food at relatively inexpensively these days in NY. This place fits the bill, and then some!

    Dining before the Show

We ate here on Oct 13th before going to see Grease. We got to the restaurant late (6:30 pm) due to traffic and a nearby street festival but were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. The staff was friendly and efficient. We placed our order, had our meal and were out the door by 7:40 pm. The food was wonderful, plentiful and well priced. Overall a good dining experience.
