You get what you pay for!

This place is awsome. A.W.E.S.O.M.E. At Dominique Ansel Bakery you get great service and great pastries. The prices aren't bad either. Their DKA (dominique's kouign amann) is $5.25 and totally worth it. Some may complain but I'd rather go for quality over quantity any day. During my visit I purchased an ice latte, a DKA, a cannele, and their honey truffle infused ricotta toast. It was delicious. All under $20.00 also. I highly recommend this place for lunch, brunch, pastries or just coffee. Not to mention the staff were extremely helpful in recommending their favorites and customer favorites. Definitely a go to in terms of bakeries in the city.

    Flourless chocolate cookies

It is so hard to find quality sweets in this city! The pastry chef here is outstanding and the flavor pops out based on ingredients not the amount of sugar and preservatives. If you are a chocolate fan you must try the flour less chocolate cookies they are to die for.

    Best croissant and NYC

I was there yesterday morning with my wife for breakfast.we were staying at the trump soho and they highly recommended this place for breakfast. We had a croissant and a dka, man this was the best breakfast we had of a long time.everything was fresh still hot from the oven (it was 8:30am). Coffee was really good as well we were lucky to find the seating area in the back of the bakery which was already busy...i highly recommend it if you are around soho. They also have lots of pasrty items that look beautiful and really tasty. Will definitely go back next trip to NYC!

cannales - a hidden gem in NYC

i do agree with most of the other reviewers that their viennoiseries are not so great especially their galette de rois but i must say their cannales are quite impressive and due to that i believe this patisserie is one of the tops on my list especially since few offer this unique delicacy from bordeaux. and at $3 each it's not bad since they run about 2 euros each in france. funny enough, the previous patisserie at that location offered better viennoiseries. still dominique ansel is great!

    Great bakery

Dominique Ansel Bakery is hands down my favorite bakery in NYC. From the cannele to the famous DKA to the Paris New York to the caramel flan to the fresh, made to order madeleines, everything at this bakery is perfection. The staff is uber friendly and helpful as well. I'll definitely return soon for some of their savory items from lunch, but beware their lunch menu is only available from 12-4 pm.

    ehhh..won't go back

He's supposed to be the best of the best and I thought it was just mediocre and definitely not worth the prices

    Avoid the "Viennoiseries" !

The pastries themselves are fine but the chocolate croissants are just lousy. Everything is about a dollar or so overpriced. Do they really not know how big a chain Financier has become in Manhattan? The customer service is as poor as you have heard on Yelp, to the point of being the cliche French hostile and rude. If you are in the area, walk either to a nearby Financier or the great Balthazar (even with all the tourists, their baked goods are amazing).
