    Clarification!

I am not sure why, but there is quite a bit of misinformation about Dokebi. We do not charge for Ban Chan unless you ask for a take out container of them to go. This is because some people have wanted to just purchase kimchee from us. We will get 4 to 5 Ban Chan side dishes with your meal. We will also refill any of your Ban Chan when you request it. This has been our policy since 2006. Thank you!

    not true

This place is great- I didn't pay for one side dish and the food was excellent

    disappointing

i was very disappointed by this place. if you go to ANY korean restaurant in korea town (around 32nd st in manhattan), you get all the yummy appetizers for free but you have to pay money to even get kimchi here. all the food is not authentic, its just too spicy but doesn't have any other flavor to it. i would rather go to korean town instead of going to dokebi, which is located conveniently 3 blocks away from my house.

    korean food for hipsters

really really disappointed how on how Korean food is repped in Willy B... I had the duen jang jji gae, cuz its such a basic /classic stew that is hard to get wrong. and... they got it wrong! I went with a bunch of non korean friends and they all liked it but its just wrong to call this food "korean food". All the flavors were dull and toned down. The bbq was way too salty and lacked flavor. Flavor and spice is the main point in korean cuisine...such a poor representation of my motherlands cuisine.

    Ok Korean, slow service

The service was really bad. No one asked how our food was or if we needed more water (we did- the food was spicy!). The server never brought the check, we had to go ask for it and take up the credit card ourselves. The food was actually pretty good, but was a little pricey and we left still hungry. All and all I wouldn't recommend this- it was nothing spectacular and the service was way too slow.

    TO: Mathew11211

Hey Mathew... sorry for the poor experience. I'm learning that delivrering food isn't necessarily the easiest way to impress people with your food. Just so you know nothing has changed here as far as personnel or management. We are still working hard to put out the best stuff possible using the best ingredients we can get a hold of... In any case, I want to apologize for our poor performance last time. I really appreciated your critical but kind words regarding Dokebi. If you are on myspace, please contact me there. I really want to make it up to you in some way. myspace.com/Dokebibar Thanks so much for your constructive words. Best Chul.

    Great place

I have been here twice and have enjoyed both times. This is one place I definitely recommend for people to go to especially if you're up to trying to types of food. The food is delicious, the service is great and the ambiance is somewhat romantic- good place for a date.
