Your average joint...
The menu had a decent selection, to say the least. The sandwiches and salads on offer are quite good, and often the helpings are more than plenty. The service was lacking a few times I had gone (no sooner did I put my fork down after the appetizer when the bowl was quickly wisked away and replaced with a dinner dish -- jeez! Slow down!). Catering to the NYU crowd, this is a great place to not spend a bundle in lower Manhattan. Don't expect high-quality food, but don't think this place serves absolute crud either.

Stick to the basics, people
Yeah, the service is poor, but how often do you get good service in new york? Come on, people. it's a DINER. You wouldn't order lobster newburg at joe jrs., would you? This is basically the same thing. Skip the calamari and tiramisu and order a veggie burger or a turkey burger with potatoes and extra carrot dressing--so good I get cravings for it. (the egg creams are good too.)

You get what you pay for
I've used to come here all the time with a friend of mine, since we're both broke. Recently we had the liberating experience of admitting to each other that we both dislike it. Food is sometimes passable, often not. Cheap ingredients, poor service, utter lack of atmosphere, and loud NYU students. But it's cheap!

Poor food, low prices
If you want to save money, this is the place. Unfortunately, the food is pretty much bad. Popular with NYU students and those who are trying to live as cheaply as possible and are tired of taco bell and falafel.

I Luv NY
If your looking for cheap good food this is the place... If your looking for cleanliness and atmosphere it most definately is not! =) Lucky for me I enjoy a healthy balance of both! Thumbs up!

Yes to Soup! No to Dessert!
First of all let me say, GREAT PRICES! The French Onion soup was soooo tasty. Please try it if you need a light tasty dish to warm you up. I ventured to try the Tiramisu---Big Mistake! I was so very disappointed. I kept thinking "this has got to be the most 'bootleg' dessert I've had in a long time. No coffee liquor, lady fingers....uh, hello...? This was more like a marscarpone cheese thingy with cocoa powder on top. At least the whip cream was good. As you can tell, I liked this place, just not the Tiramisu. Please go to Dojo and enjoy!

Not Recommended
I know I'm taking a risk by going against the many who frequent this restaurant but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. I know it isn't supposed to be some snazzy place but this was too much. The sauces for the calamari had darker top layers from having been sitting out for too long, and everything was either slightly slimy or overcooked. The place was also unclean. The floors looked grimy and the bathroom - forget about it.
