    Service is slipping

Docks still has terrific food; but the last couple of times I've been there for lunch, the service was slow and so unorganized it was truly unprofessional. I really hope this doesn't continue; it's making me think twice about going back.

    A New York standard

We love this place. Great selection of seafood, beverages and fantastic service make this place a perfect spot for dinner, drinks or light fare. Bravo!

    Reliable Gem

I've eaten here more than a dozen times. Name it: brunch, lunch and dinner. With two or with 14. Never changes: always good food and really super seafood, always great service and never rushed. It is my standby for friends, family, and out-of-town folk who like fish. I love the place. I hope it never closes.

    Drinks are overpriced

we were charged $18 for a standard size margarita and charged $6 for a run-of-the-mill breadbasket and not told in advance they charged for bread. very deceptive!

    Go to place

This is my go-to restaurant for seafood in N.Y. now. Great choice of seafood especially real New England specialties like whole belly fried clams and real steamers (with the neck), Maryland specialties like soft shell crabs and of course crab cakes. Great service and I love the atmosphere; it is "old time New York". The hostess staff is always hospitable. There is nothing here not to like.

    NY eater

I have one thing to say, Lobster Mac & Cheese! Order whatever you like but you must include the Lobster Mac and Cheese.

    A very good seafood place.

Docks is an interesting and extremely good restaurant. The location is excellent. This restaurant offers basic seafood that is well prepared. Reservations are not necessary but suggested. Initially, you may wonder. The people at the hostess station seemed to be challenged when seating patrons. Once you are seated, things change radically. Most of the servers are well educated, personable, and very competent. They strive to give excellent service. Sometimes they fall short when the place is busy. The dining room is extremely large and can get crazy at times.Interesting specials are offered. The shrimp cocktail is excellent and so is the lump crab cocktail. Their marinated seafood salad is very good and should be offered both as an appetizer and an entree. The crab cakes are very good. Recently, I had a halibut special, which was terrific. Their sides are good, especially the lobster macaroni and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. They offer a nice selection of vegetables daily. I would avoid the rice pilaf. It used to be awesome, but now it is poorly prepared. The key lime pie, flourless chocolate cake, and chocolage pudding are excellent. The drinks are very good. Tom and Liz do a great job behind the bar (I do not know the other two bartenders). There are two drawbacks. First, the portions tend so be small, so it is advisable to order an appetizer, a side, or both. Second, one of the assistant managers is very snotty. Notwithstanding that, the other managers are cordial and very professional. The GM is very capable and the menu has been revamped. FYI: The clambake special on Sunday and Monday is a very good deal. In short, this place should be tried. I ran into an acquaintance here an asked if he dined here often. His reply: Yes, you get some of the best seafood around here. The bar crowd here is not rowdy and there are few problems (i.e. fights). Their business model works, which makes them very slow to change. For example, it took them a long time to get on open table.
